Summary:

The Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant functions in collaborative practice with physician(s) in the clinic setting. Autonomously performs patient assessment, diagnosis, and intervention according to approved protocols. Develops and maintains own volume of patients under the supervision of a physician. Provides practice/clinic coverage for physician(s) during periods of absence. Prescribes a variety of modalities to meet wellness and illness needs, including prescriptive authority.

Education:

Advanced Practice Registered Nurses: Masters Degree in Nursing as Advanced Practice Registered Nurse. Minimum 1 year of pediatric nursing experience or related specialized area strongly preferred. OR

Physician Assistants: Masters Degree in Physician Assistant Studies. Minimum 1 year of experience in related specialized area strongly preferred.

Certification/Licensure:

Advanced Practice Registered Nurses: Current Texas professional registered nurse license. Current Texas professional advance practice registered nurse license. Certified as a PNP or FNP. Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (CPR) required. Current American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required.

OR

Physician Assistants: Current Texas professional physician assistant license Certified as a PA-C, Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (CPR) required, Current American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required.
