Nurse Practitioner - Outpatient Hepatology
Job Description
Position Highlights:
- 100% outpatient | MondayโFriday, 8:00 AMโ4:30 PM | No call
- Adults 18+ | Average 13 patients per day
- Immediate need: Take over an existing patient panel with over 300 visits already scheduled in 2025
- Mentorship available
- Virtual visits available and used regularly (MyChart platform)
- Direct involvement in clinical trials offering patients access to experimental treatments that are not yet available in routine practice โ all trial-related care is covered by the study sponsor
- Specialty Pharmacy support handles most prior authorizations and payer communications, including peer-to-peer support
- Opportunity to work directly with transplant centers for our liver transplant patients, allowing our patients to do most of their visits and procedures closer to home
- Oncology refers newly diagnosed liver cancer patients directly to our practice, giving APCs the opportunity to participate in complex care
- Long-tenured, cohesive team with flexible, creative scheduling to maximize clinical space โ typically two rooms per provider
- Opportunity to learn and grow in a highly specialized environment; optional training available to support inpatient consults and call coverage if desired
- Hepatology outpatient care
- Clinical trial patient visits and fibroscan procedures
- Serve as sub-investigator on active research studies
- Active Virginia Nurse Practitioner license
- AGACNP certification required
- Hepatology or liver disease experience strongly preferred
- Patient panel: ~1,186
- Annual encounters: ~2,100 (250 new, 1,290 follow-up, 560 fibroscans)
- Appointments scheduled for 2025: 335 (and growing)
