Nursing Director - Emergency & Observation

Reportingto the Vice President, Patient Care Services, this position is responsible forthe overall direction of the Emergency & Observation departments . The director has oversight and responsibilityfor all financial, managerial, strategic, and clinical objectives. The director directs, plans, and develops allaspects of quality patient care to achieve clinical and service excellence. The director ensures staff development,performance, and competence, staffing patterns, performance improvement,capital and operating budgeting, and internal and external marketing andcommunication for the department. Thisposition is accountable to county, state, and federal agencies in addition toother external regulatory agencies for maintaining compliance with applicablelaws, regulations, and standards.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. CurrentCalifornia RN licenses required.

2. CurrentACLS, CPR certification required.

3. CurrentMAB certification required within 6 months of hire.

4. CurrentNIHSS certificate required within 6 months of hire.

5. Certificationin specialty preferred.

6. Threeyears’ clinical experience in acute care; two years’ experience in managementwith increasing supervisory experience.

7. BSNrequired, MSN preferred.

8. Knowledgeablein regulatory requirements: federal, state, Title XXII, The Joint Commission,and California Department of Public Health
