NYL Data Scientist/Statistician Internship

The Center for Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (CDSAi) is the 60-person innovative corporate Analytics group within New York Life. We are a rapidly growing entrepreneurial department which designs, creates, and offers innovative data-driven solutions for many parts of the enterprise. We are looking to hire summer interns who are graduate students or recent graduates. The internships start in May / June with full time hours (40 hours per week).

Ideal candidates have or are in the process of obtaining a Master's or PhD in Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science with Data Science emphasis or another field which is highly analytical and quantitative. As a member of our team you will have the opportunity to gain real-life work experience, develop your skills, and begin building a network in a professional environment.

Qualifications

• Recipient or in process of obtaining a Master's or PhD in Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics or another field which is highly analytical / quantitative in nature
• Exposure and experience with standard machine learning / statistical techniques: GLM, Logistic Regression, GBM, Random Forests, Experimental Design, etc.
• Excellent skills in Python or R
• Good feature engineering skills, ability to use SQL if needed
• Strong business sense
• Self-directed and independent

Compensation is competitive. Relocation / housing support will not be provided.

The position is located either in Manhattan (Madison Ave and 27th St; walking distance from Penn Station and Grand Central Station) or remote.
