Observability Admin I
Job Description
The Observability Administrator I will monitor the performance and integrity of production applications and infrastructure. This role will assist in supporting teams investigating production issues and assisting in troubleshooting and determining root cause using our monitoring tools. The administrator will also work with teams to build out data driven alerting and monitoring solutions to prevent downtime.
Attention to detail is of critical importance as identifying trends in our monitoring tools and reporting allows the team to remain proactive. This position requires an uptime focused, technical team member with the ability and desire to learn both our business and IT processes. This team member must have a good understanding of the relationships between infrastructure and applications, and the ability to analyze technical issues in all layers of our environments.
WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU
Must Have Qualifications:
- Computer-related degree or equivalent work experience
- Basic understanding of enterprise infrastructure systems and hardware performance
- Strong Customer Service and Communication Skills
- Strong ability to multi-task and to take ownership/work with other teams during projects and incidents
- Ability to provide on-call support on a rotating basis, reaching out to other teams as necessary
- Strong documentation creation/note-taking abilities
Nice to Have Qualifications:
- SolarWinds IT Monitoring / Infrastructure monitoring
- Dynatrace APM or other relevant APM solution
- Enterprise logging experience/Splunk
- Windows Server 2012 R2 / Microsoft SQL Server
- Linux OS
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
- Monitor all performance aspects of Production applications and infrastructure using both observability concepts and tooling
- Assist in and support the appropriate subject matter experts during any Production outages with an extreme sense of urgency
- Provide proactive monitoring data and analytics to all other cross functional IT teams, and assisting in the interpretation of the data to resolve issues as well as technical debt in our systems
- Manage and complete ticketing requests sent to the team
- Provide regular updates on tasks accomplished, current issues and progress toward goals. Maintain up-to-date documentation of alerting templates, operations, and procedure knowledgebase articles
- Participate in rotating on-call coverage or emergency response as needed to enable 24/7 support to our IT Teams
