Responsibilities
- Receive and process customer booking requests. Review appropriate quote, routing, carrier selection, sailing schedules and transit time to ensure compliance with contract and client expectations. Work with Pricing if a quote is not available or outdated. Communicate with Carriers, overseas agents, customers, sales people and onboarding manager to solve any issues that may arise prior to loading.
- Get familiar with external Rate Management tools and internal Laufer Quote system.
- Create bookings via INTTRA platform/Carrier website.
- Audit Carrier booking confirmations to ensure routing/contract requirements are followed.
- Ensure all required fields and codes are accurately entered into AS400 and issues identified and resolved at time of booking. Ensure that appropriate Quote is attached to the booking in as400.
- Send Laufer Booking Confirmation within a goal of 2 hours of booking request, and if unable – to provide timely updates to customer as to status of request (if delay is due to carrier/routing/weather/holiday. Manage all required follow up with clients and overseas agents.
- Dispatch work orders to trucker/LCL providers and follow up as necessary to ensure cargo moves as planned. Obtain trucking rates if necessary, assist pricing with trucker selection.
- Maintain and update milestone dates for door pickup, railroad return and port ingate, provide updates as necessary to customer and internal parties. Utilize available tools (INTTRA, Cargosmart, WPW) to obtain tracking information and upload documents.
- Ensure transshipments are tracked and sailing schedules maintained. Manage and report delays to affected parties.
- Perform other duties as determined necessary by management.
Qualifications
- Strong geographical awareness and experience routing international cargo.
- Understanding of ocean carrier services and operations (including carrier partnerships/alliances).
- Understanding of international transportation practices and associated regulations.
- Ability to provide support and guidance to agents, clients, sales people in regard to routing/pricing.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Understanding of industry used terminology.
- Experience working in a fast paced, team oriented, deadline driven department.
- Problem solving experience and confidence to challenge status quo.
- Computer literacy and strong organizational, interpersonal, and presentation skill.
- A Degree in business, supply chain management, finance or geography is seen as an advantage.

Salary range: $40,000-$50,000 depending on experience
