OCED is a multi-technology office responsible for overseeing more than $20B of investment in large scale demonstrations in emerging technologies such as clean hydrogen, carbon capture, advanced nuclear reactors, grid-scale energy storage, industrial emissions reductions as well as demonstrations in rural and socioeconomically disadvantaged regions. We are looking for individuals with a range of skills and interest in large-scale clean energy demonstration projects, particularly in renewable systems, carbon capture and removal, hydrogen, and nuclear energy technologies.

The Senior Subject Matter Expert has industry experience in the relevant subject matter. This individual will use expertise and/or industry focus expertise in fulfilling interpreted requirements. The Subject Matter Expert is highly experienced in the industry with regards to stated discipline. The Subject Matter Expert provides thought leadership related to current and future customer plans regarding the stated discipline.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must have a minimum of 10 years of communication specialist experience. 
  • Minimum B.A. or B.S. degree 
  • Excellent writing and editing skills. 
  • Ability to write communication products with minimum revision. 
  • Ability to meet deadlines and produce on-demand communications. 
  • Experience with online marketing and brand development including skill in developing strategies for disseminating content across multiple channels, including blogs and social networks. 
  • Experience in developing and executing online programs, including live events; in producing visual and/or multi-media content such as social media graphics, photos, videos, infographics, and data visualizations. 
  • Establish and maintain mutual communications between the stakeholders and industry, universities, other government agencies, and the public. 
  • Create and update communications products in support of the office’s mission, including press releases, brochures, web content, social media plans, factsheets, infographics, one-pagers, blogs and major reports. 
  • Drafting executive level talking points and speeches for Director ‘s internal or external engagements. 
  • Developing/updating content for internally facing and externally facing webpages as needed, including coordinating with site managers. 
  • Exceptional attention to detail. 

WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 

Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment available. Work is mostly sedentary in nature but will require periodic standing and walking and lifting. Must have good vision and be able to read, write, and communicate fluently in English.
