Kemper's Chief Information Security Office is looking for an Offence Cybersecurity Analyst to proactively research cyber threats, apply assessment techniques, and advise Kemper on appropriate risk mitigation. Reporting to the AVP Threat Intelligence and Offense Cybersecurity, you will support various projects and initiatives from a security perspective. You will be provided with guidance and training to facilitate your development within this role.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain technical knowledge of latest cyber threats, associated tactics, techniques and procedures, and industry best practices to counteract them
  • Stay up to date with Kemper relevant vulnerabilities, threat actors, indicators of compromise (IOCs) tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs), and trends, identifying actionable areas of interest and threats
  • Assist in the implementation and maintenance of Kemper's offensive cybersecurity testing platform

  • Plan, design and execute continuous adversarial testing scenarios leveraging latest, Kemper relevant threat intelligence and vulnerability information
  • As needed, assist with root cause evaluation of incidents realized by the organization; develop and recommend courses of action to mitigate and/or prevent the threat posed to Kemper
  • Contribute to improvements of defensive readiness controls
  • Work side-by-side with internal security defensive cybersecurity operations team to provide intel-driven insights into existing and emerging threats, including being an active participant during security incident response
  • As required, assist with Insider Risk and Forensics investigations

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and 3 or more years of experience in the information technology area OR
  • Kemper Cybersecurity intern, including Cybersecurity Certification and 4 or more years of experience in the information technology area OR
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 5 or more years of experience in the information technology area AND
  • MS Office experience

  • Understanding of common threat analysis models such as the Cyber Kill Chain, and MITRE ATT&CK
  • Demonstrated knowledge of incident response methodology and attacker tradecraft.
  • Collaborative and relationship building focused mindset.

Bonus points for:

  • Threat hunting, red/purple teaming, and/or security incident response experience

  • Experience automating and/or scripting with Python, etc.
  • Previous experience in cloud-native or tech environments
  • Security certifications such as GCTI, GCIH, GCIA, etc.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledgeable with current cyber threats and associated tactics, techniques, and procedures used to target IT systems.

  • Threat hunting, red/purple teaming, and/or security incident response experience
  • Experience automating and/or scripting common task (e.g., with Python).
  • Basic Experience in intelligence collection, evaluation, and reporting/dissemination processes and procedures.
