Olefin Subject Matter Expert
Job Description
BASIC FUNCTION
The candidate will be a core member of Solomon's Solutions Delivery team focused on Solomon's global advisory business. The Senior Advisor will be responsible for client engagement, project management, maintaining technical integrity of advisory projects for which they are responsible, and for providing subject-matter expertise related to business performance and operations, particularly in the area of Olefin chemicals. The candidate will directly contribute to the success and profitability of Solomon's core businesses, where engagements may be individual or in collaboration with other team members.
In this role, the candidate will work as a client-facing advisor, an advisor to other client teams, and as a creative problem-solver that enables client success. Solomon's engagements cover a wide range of topics, from strategy to operational improvements. The Senior Advisor will have rounded expertise in multiple areas including energy efficiency, process efficiency, yield improvements, planning and optimization, economic analysis, maintenance, reliability, turnaround support, capital projects, organizational design, and management. Advisory engagements include projects within the upstream, midstream, refining, chemicals, power, and utilities sectors of the energy industry. Clients include owners, operators, governments, and financial companies (i.e., banks, insurance companies, investment funds etc.). The Senior Advisor is expected to become proficient in Solomon's methodologies and studies that, when combined with industry experience, will develop a strong belief in the benefits Solomon's unique approach provides to clients.
Senior Advisors are expected to lead and participate in Solomon advisory engagements at client locations worldwide, with associated travel (domestic and international) up to 40% of the time. The position can be based in Dallas or Houston, Texas, or remote.

Qualifications
EDUCATION• Required:
-Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Petroleum, or related engineering field)• Preferred:
-Master's degree and/or advanced professional degree preferred (e.g., MBA, PhD, etc.)
WORK EXPERIENCE• Required:
-15+ years in Refining, Petrochemical, or Energy Industry with Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering experience at Engineer and Manager levels, with specific extended experience in Olefin chemicals
-Demonstrated strong analytical and problem-solving ability
-Strategic planning and economic evaluation experience
-Knowledge of facility operational optimization and economics with one or more assignments in Planning and Optimization, Finance, Environmental, Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering• Preferred:
-25+ years in Refining or Petrochemical Industry with Operations, Maintenance and Engineering experience at Engineer, Manager, and Executive (Refinery Manager or VP) level, with specific extended experience in Olefin chemicals
-Additional experience in power, midstream, upstream, and financial services
TECHNICAL SKILLS• Required:
-Microsoft® Office Products - Proficient in Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel®, and PowerPoint®
-Communication Skills - Interpersonal and communication skills including excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills
-Problem Solving - Exceptional analytical and quantitative problem-solving skills
-Analytical Solutions - Demonstrated ability to translate data and information into practical solutions and recommendations
-Database Knowledge - Ability to present and provide insightful analysis up to and including the C Suite of multinational companies and federal-level governmental agencies
-Innovation - Willingness and ability to develop new advisory business, provide support to Business Development Team, and ability to expand services/solutions
-Quality - Must demonstrate strong job quality motivation and possess high degree of intelligence
-Continuous Improvement - Proven track record of continuous improvement• Preferred:
-Experience in Database software such as SQL
-Knowledgeable and proficient in Project Management
-Additional experience in an advisory role
NON-TECHNICAL SKILLS• Required:
-Team Collaboration - Excellent people skills and collaborating in a multi-disciplinary, diverse, and dynamic team environment
-Leader - Demonstrated ability to lead in difficult situations
-Analytics - Ability to apply Solomon methodologies as analysis tools to support recommended improvement changes to a client's current operations

-Corporate Savvy - Must be able to command the respect of Solomon colleagues and project teams, manage client relationships, and be credible to potential clients• Preferred:
