This position is based in San Francisco, California. This on call position will be required to work onsite, on select Thursday evening and late hours, which may fluctuate based on business needs. Please do not apply if you are not able to work onsite. Candidates are required to have up-to-date COVID-19 vaccination, including receiving a booster shot, as a condition of employment, absent qualifying exemptions in accordance with applicable laws. About the NightLife Team
NightLife is led by a core team of creatives who are dedicated to the programming, production, and operation of Thursday night events. The NightLife team collaborates with multiple Academy departments and external partners to achieve various goals including, but not limited to:
- Build a community within NightLife and The Academy
- Provide guests with an experience that is positive, authentic, meaningful, and memorable.
- Introduce new, younger, and more diverse audiences to an enhanced Academy brand through fresh and innovative experiences.
- Share The Academy’s mission to regenerate the natural world and major Initiatives through unique methods that are relevant, specific, and inspirational to NightLife’s core audience.
Key Responsibilities
- Enforce all Academy event guidelines and procedures
- Provide logistical support for select NightLife events:
- Act as NightLife team liaison for event partners and vendors
- Review work orders and floor plans for event specifics, logistics and details
- Familiarize self with key players (i.e. NightLife team, Food/Beverage providers, programming partners, vendors, internal Academy staff, GE, AVEE, Operations, Facilities, Security, etc.)
- Advise partners and F&B providers on approved floor plans for bar setup, tabling, entertainment, etc.
- Oversee all set up and break down activities such as vendors/partners, equipment set up, custodial and security, bar partner, docents, stores and entertainment
- Assist Academy Facilities and Operations staff in moving Academy furniture or stanchions, as necessary to meet setup timeline. Moving furniture or rental equipment for vendors is not required
- Monitor events throughout all aspects of the event: set up, during event, break down and clean up to ensure all procedures are correctly followed and all guidelines relating to the protection and security of the Academy are observed
- Oversee safety of guests, partners, and staff, including but not limited to checking power cords for proper taping, and exit accessibilities
- Interact with partners, acting as an Academy/NightLife representative. Meet and greet partners upon arrival, provide the highest level of customer service to ensure event success
- Assist in troubleshooting any issues that arise during events
- Remain on site until events are over, and break down and cleanup is completed. Perform final walkthrough before leaving the building to ensure the floor is ready for daytime operations.
- Brief NightLife team in writing after each event
- Have a good working knowledge of all public areas of the Academy
- Follow all Academy safety regulations
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Qualifications
A successful candidate will have the following:
EXPERIENCE and/or EDUCATION:
- At minimum two (2) years of event production or operations related experience
- Working knowledge of Audio/Video tech is preferred
- Experience working in a cultural institution or live events venue is a bonus
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to problem solve quickly, trouble-shoot, and work under pressure
- Excellent organizational skills with great attention to detail
- Self-motivated and able to work without supervision
- Professional appearance, demeanor, and communication skills
- Ability to comprehend and contribute to documentation
- Comfortable working with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds
- Ability to do strenuous work for long periods of time
- Proficient in basic computing and Google Suite
- Collaboration: Ability to work as part of a team or collaborate well with team members, and external collaborators (if applicable) to accomplish mutual goals.
- Communication: Ability to work efficiently and communicate with staff, cross-functional teams and external customers from different identities and experiences.

Physical Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand on hard floors for long periods of time, sit, walk, and communicate on the phone, in person, and online meetings/ calls. Must be able to perform repetitive motions 60% of the time. Must be able to transport 30 lbs. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. Compensation
Hourly hiring/flat rate: $28.00 per hour
Schedule: On-Call, 5 - 7 hours per event, select Thursdays only
