Job Description

NOTE: Candidate must reside in South Florida and will report to customer location(s) in the Miami-Dade area M - F 8 AM - 5 PM in office, work space/area provided by the customer. Travel will be around the Miami-Dade area with less than 10% travel to other locations in the US for training purposes.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain and manage highly technical Motorola APX Next portable, APX6500/8500 mobile radio subscribers. 

• Focus on optimal performance levels across an integrated system while taking a proactive approach to address and mitigate subscriber issues and malfunctions.

• Manage subscribers through routine maintenance, performance monitoring and system wide preventative maintenance.

• Work with customers to develop, manage and maintain radio code-plugs and implement custom programming in the subscribers.

• Manage, program and provision subscriber radios utilizing cloud based tools such as RadioCentral, CommandCentral Mapping, CommandCentral Messaging and SmartConnect.

• Update subscriber information in the Motorola ASTRO Core Provisioning Manager application. 

• Confirm accuracy to prevent duplication of data information.

• Perform basic hardware troubleshooting if the radio has an external defect, or can be restored without opening the radio case/ housing.

• Support Sierra Wireless XR80 Vehicular Modems with configuration updates and swapping of units for service with customer provided spares. All XR80 Modems will go back to Sierra Wireless for any additional service required.

Preferred Candidate Experience:

• Familiar with the latest technologies and troubleshooting techniques for current model digital and analog Motorola communications equipment and system architectures.

• Proficient with Radio Management and all software used in programming and code-plug development for subscribers.

• Experience with P25 Systems, LMR RF systems, wired/wireless communication systems such as local area networks (LAN) and wide area networks (WAN), networking equipment, IT networks and subscriber equipment.

• Computer literate with proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Google Suite of applications.

• Strong self-management skills and "people" skills to work closely with Motorola’s customers and subcontractor partner community, as well as, Motorola Sales, Engineering, Project Management, and Customer Service teams.

• Able to solve customer problems quickly during stressful situations

• Experience in the configuration and testing of Motorola two‐way radio and subscriber products.

Required Candidate Experience:

• Must have ETA certification within 6 months of hire date.

• Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain necessary security clearance(s) as required by government contract.

• Must have a current, valid driver’s license and no traffic violations

• CompTIA Network + and/or CCNA or equivalent preferred.

This position is subject to working in high security areas governed by the US Department of Justice's "Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy" and therefore requires successfully passing a more stringent fingerprint background check administered by Motorola Solutions Inc. customers.

Basic Requirements

• Associates Degree and 2+ years of experience in Radio, LMR, RF, Programming, or similar skillset
• OR 3+ years of experience in Radio, LMR, RF, Programming or as a Field/System Technician
• Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely is required. Employer work permit sponsorship is not available for this position.
