Job Description

Chamberlain University seeks to welcome Online Part-Time Professors to teach in our Master of Social Work program in the areas of: practice and practicum courses: supervision of students in their practicum. The Master of Social Work degree program is aimed at developing and empowering students to be agents of social change in their communities and throughout the world.

We invite qualified candidates to apply today for the following subjects:

MSW Practicum Supervisors - Provide practicum supervision reinforcing the social work perspective and liaising with site supervisor to support student success.

MSW 508 Foundation Field I- During this first foundation course students are expected to complete 250 hours of supervised fieldwork experience at an approved social work agency/organization. Students will apply general social work competencies to work with individuals families groups and communities. Fieldwork culminates with a student evaluation completed by the field instructor.

MSW 510 Foundation Field II - During this second foundation course students are expected to complete 250 hours of supervised fieldwork experience at an approved social work agency/organization. Students will apply general social work competencies to work with individuals families groups and communities. Fieldwork culminates with a student evaluation completed by the field instructor.

MSW 550 Advanced Practicum I- This course provides students the opportunity to discuss practice situations professional development issues the relationship of field to classroom learning and skills necessary for effective practice. Students will apply classroom knowledge to activities and interventions serving individuals families groups and communities. Fieldwork culminates in a written report describing the students’ area of study. The report includes the student’s reflection on the experience and conclusions.

MSW 551 Advanced Practicum II- The advanced practicum experience builds on foundational field experience in which students were introduced to the roles of a professional social worker. In this course students will go on to further develop their professional identities increase their independence as practitioners and integrate global and non-Western approaches into their knowledge skills and values. Students will demonstrate skills aligned with social work competencies including maintaining social work boundaries and ethics while interacting in a professional manner with clients. During the seminar students demonstrate their integration of classroom knowledge with the professional practice skills. In this second half of the advanced field practicum students continue to learn how to integrate the first five advanced competencies into practice but go on to focus more explicitly on the final four areas: engagement assessment intervention and evaluation.

The successful professor will:

  • Inspire students to complete their program by providing regular meaningful feedback about their academic performance development and participation while encouraging them to engage fully in their education

  • Engage students in meaningful asynchronous threaded discussions at least 4 days per week moderating participation evaluating responses and rationales and responding to questions or comments

  • Evaluate academic progress and comprehension of course content through assigning and grading quizzes exams and writing assignments

  • Exhibit care by displaying behaviors respect and professionalism creating a culture that fosters collaboration cooperation and respect among all

  • Be readily available to meet the needs of a student body that is diverse in age culture and academic preparation

  • Identify and embrace opportunities to enhance student engagement by reaching out to students in need and responding quickly to requests for help

  • Bring your professional experience to life through professional development introducing industry perspective into courses and sharing information about social work trends and opportunities with students

  • Promote student success by demonstrating flexibility in style schedule and exhibiting your passion for teaching by devoting time and energy to improve scholarly excellence and subject matter expertise

  • Foster a positive learning environment by maintaining accurate records submitting grades on time and enforcing academic policies

  • Use course-related software and technology effectively including Websites e-mail and online discussions for preparing the course and making it accessible to students.

  • Model effective oral and written communications that engage the students provide clarity and improve student learning.

  • Set clear expectations for the course by publishing course terminal objectives assignment/examinations dates and weight the distribution of various evaluation categories.

  • Ensure that the content and level of material included on exams correspond to the course terminal objectives.

Qualifications

  • A CSWE accredited MSW degree with a minimum 5 years of practice experience

  • A minimum of 2 years graduate-level teaching experience preferred

  • Current or very recent professional experience required in the field of instruction as described in the course descriptions

Additional Information

Chamberlain Visiting Professor Position - Online: In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country the expected compensation rate for this position is between $850/Earned Credit Hour to $1950/Earned Credit Hour depending on the candidate’s education and experience. Actual pay may be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law such as type of course taught; experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
