AllianceBernstein is seeking an Operational Risk Manager who will sit in the second line enterprise risk team.

Who You'll Work With:

AB operates a "Three Lines" model where Risk Management is an independent function in the "second line". The department has dedicated teams for operational risk and investment risk, as well as specialist risk directors for liquidity, counterparty and credit risk. The risk department is led by AB's Chief Risk Officer (CRO) who is a direct report of AB's Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The operational risk team is also supported by first-line Risk Managers who operate as Risk Officers in AB's business units. Together, the Risk Officers, specialist risk directors, investment and operational risk teams form AB's Risk Management department.

What You'll Do:

The Operational Risk Manager will help to deliver AB's operational risk management programs, including development and enhancement of AB's operational risk framework, risk assessments and event management processes. A key element of this role will be supporting the delivery of AB's operational risk technology strategy. The role will also be responsible for regular and ad-hoc management reporting including key risk indicators, monthly reporting packs, management escalations and other tasks to support the firm's Risk Officers.

  • Support the delivery of operational risk management programs to enhance AB's operational risk framework.
  • Support the delivery of the firm's enterprise operational risk governance committees by preparing meeting packs and agendas, and taking meeting notes and actions.
  • Support the delivery of risk analysis, monthly reporting and insights to AB's Leadership, including the CEO, COO and CRO, and governance committees.
  • Oversee day-to-day elements of AB's operational risk framework:

    • Maintain and enhance operational risk management procedures and standards for risk assessment, event reporting and resolution, and management reporting.
    • Maintain and enhance operational risk management libraries and taxonomies to facilitate assessment and reporting of enterprise-wide risks, metrics and action plans.
    • Collate and enhance key risk metric data collection and reporting.
  • Attend industry forums and events to stay current on industry best practise, sharing that information with AB's global risk function.

What We're Looking For:

  • Experience in operational risk management, audit and control management or operations management in the finance sector.
  • Experience implementing risk management policies and procedures.
  • Experience implementing risk systems, reporting and management information.
  • Experience delivering risk reporting to senior management and governance committees.
  • Experience developing and delivering operational risk training.
  • Knowledge of Excel, PowerBI, and/or Tableau.
  • Knowledge or experience working with Governance, Risk and Compliance tools and software a plus
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, demonstrating clarity and accuracy.
