Operational Risk Sr Advisor

The Operational Risk Senior Associate is an individual contributor who conducts comprehensive risk-based testing program for the TIAA Trust line of business (LOB) as stipulated by the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC). This person will also leverage their investment management experience to provide adequate risk coverage of TIAA FSB's Investment Management Group (IMG). The ideal candidate will have experience designing and executing end-to-end controls testing, exposure to investment management activities, and the ability to manage complex concepts, competing priorities and be able to build effective relationships with business partners and internal stakeholders. The Senior Associate may also need to provide awareness and subject matter expertise on the organization's Enterprise Risk Management program framework and associated program policies.

Key Responsibilities and Duties
  • Conducts comprehensive risk-based tests in support of the TIAA Trust LOB.
  • Provides Risk coverage of IMG, including review of relevant IMG policies/SOPs, review of IMG's materials provided for the periodic investment oversight-related committee meetings, and driving accountability and adoption of pertinent Enterprise Risk Management programs that IMG is subject to.
  • Works with managers across the organization to support consistent adherence to Enterprise Risk Management programs.
  • Assists with other operational risk programs, as needed, including business continuity, fraud, etc.
  • Assists managers and other teams, as needed, in risk assessment activities for new and existing business units to determine effectiveness and functionality.
  • May work with the broader Risk and Compliance team to ensure that the implementation of new programs includes the identification of risks and control weaknesses.

Qualifications:

Required:
  • 3 years experience in audit, risk or compliance in the financial services industry


Preferred:
  • 5 years experience in audit, risk or compliance in the financial services industry
  • Knowledge of OCC regulations, especially those that govern Trust companies and affiliated businesses
  • Prior testing/audit experience
  • Interest and knowledge of investment concepts like asset allocation (including major asset and sub-asset classes), portfolio construction, performance measurement, exception/outlier reporting, fund concentration reporting, and liquidity considerations.
  • Preferred Graduate Degree (e.g., MBA) or Industry Designation (e.g., CFA, CFP, CAIA)


Base Pay Range: $70,600/yr. - $117,600/yr.

Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
