The Operational Safety Senior Specialist is responsible for ensuring appropriate standards are established and maintained to provide the highest level of safety for Breeze Airways operations.Â
Breeze’s Operational Safety Senior Specialist assists in the administration and continuous improvement of airline safety programs under FAR Part 5 Safety Management Systems (SMS). This person actively participates in all aspects of SMS programs and projects. The Specialist assists in the responsibility Safety Investigations, Flight Operations Quality Assurance (FOQA), Line Operations Safety Audit (LOSA), Occupational (OSHA) and Environmental Safety Programs, and support the sustainability and improvement of the Breeze Airways Safety Management Systems (SMS).Â
Here’s what you’ll do- Support operational safety management and safety performance for Flight Operations, Inflight Operations, Airport Operations, and Technical Operations.
- Collect and analyze safety data to raise awareness of operational risks, and to facilitate the application of corrective actions to mitigate those risks.
- Partner with operating divisions to ensure robust analysis of safety performance risk and ensure effective visibility to mitigation efforts.
- Investigate safety related events, determine root cause analysis and develop/implement corrective action plans through departmental coordination.
- Assist in the project management of the Flight Operations Quality Assurance Program (FOQA)
- Ensure compliance with all OSHA requirements.
- Responsible for tracking and trending all OSHA events and reports and providing mitigation strategies.
- Support the company accident, incident, hazard and injury reduction efforts by aiding in the development of proactive and educational safety programs.
- Assist in the project management of the Line Operations Safety Audit (LOSA) program.
- Support local station safety committees across the Breeze network
- Assist departments with educating, implementing, and maintaining safety policies and processes throughout Breeze.
- Utilize risk-based tools and techniques to highlight opportunities in operational programs, processes and controls.
- Participate in safety investigations.
- Assist in safety promotion for all operational divisions to include Safety Bulletins, Safety Newsletters, and front-line awareness of abnormal occurrences, events, and trends.
- Responsible for regular briefings on safety performance.
- Assist the Safety Department in the readiness of the Breeze Airways Emergency Response Program.
- Maintain proficiency in accident and incident investigative techniques, photographic documentation and technical skills, human factors continuing education, safety research, and investigation analysis.
- Perform all other duties/projects as assigned.
- Achieve performance measures and adhere to established standards in conjunction with Breeze Airways values of Safety, Kindness, Integrity, Ingenuity, and Excellence.
- 4-year degree from an accredited university or 3 years relevant work experience with emphasis on aviation safety, aviation management, or airport operations
- 1 year airline operational experience or airport operations experience
- Working familiarity with federal regulations pertaining to U.S scheduled, domestic, air carrier operations
- Proficient analytical skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with little supervision
- Ability to quickly learn new software and programs through training and self-study
- Proven ability to build relationships both internally and externally
- Ability to work effectively with professionals from diverse technical areas
- Strong organizational and planning skills
- Experience with Vistair, Navitaire, AQD, WBAT, Sabre and/or MINT or equivalent aviation software
- Experience in using airline manuals and airline manual systems
- Available for occasional overnight travel
- Airport ground experience
- Technical Operations/Maintenance experience
- Experience in Investigations
- Aviation Safety Management System (SMS) experience
- FAA license/certificate for Dispatch, A&P, or Pilot
- Aviation or other related industry-specific degree
- Experience working with SMS, airline safety data and processes
- OSHA experience
- OSHA 10 DOL Card
- OSHA 30 DOL Card
- 2+ years of experience with data analytics
- 2+ years of experience in airline operations
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite

- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Ability to work with individuals and teams at all levels in the organization
- Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office suite required
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office suite preferred

- High performance orientation, ability to work well under pressure, prioritize projects, meet deadlines, and maintain flexibility
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management skills
- Flexibility to work on adhoc projects
- Potential need to work flexible hours and be available on short notice
- Able to maintain a professional appearance
- Must be an appropriate organizational fit for the Breeze culture
- Must promote and represent Breeze’s value of Safety as a safety ambassador, support Breeze’s SMS program, Safety Policy and behavioral standards
