About the role

Apixio is looking for an Operations Analyst to join our analytics team who is curious about data, passionate about analyzing and deriving insights from it, and proficient in implementing the tools to do so. In this role, you will work closely with our internal customers, helping them create reports and dashboards that help them understand metrics about their respective functional areas. The Operations Analyst position is ideal for someone with the right mix of data analysis and communication skills to collect requirements and analyze data to deliver the same.

ResponsibilitiesGather Business Requirements:

• Understand Apixio’s business, products, and data stores
• Gather requirements from internal customer teams (medical coding, customer success, product, marketing) around data analysis

Data Manipulation and Analysis 

• Work with cross-functional teams (analytics, data integrations, engineering, and operations) to collect and transform data
• Review metrics with customer teams to determine if forecasted outcomes and KPIs align with expectations. Leverage advanced analytical techniques to uncover hidden patterns, trends, and correlations within large and complex datasets.
• Identify opportunities for improvements within the Coding Operations Team regarding coding behavior.
• Possess strong business analysis skills to derive insights and inform decision-making processes.

Metrics Design and Tracking

• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business objectives and formulate relevant questions.
• Design and develop effective metrics to measure business performance and identify areas for improvement.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive dashboards and reporting frameworks to communicate key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics.
• Continuously evaluate and refine existing metrics to ensure alignment with evolving business strategies and objectives.

Data Visualization, Storytelling, and Collaboration

• Develop a deep understanding of the target audience and tailor communication styles and data storytelling approaches to effectively convey complex data insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Serve as a trusted advisor and thought leader, promoting adopting data-driven strategies and fostering a data-driven mindset across the organization.
• Collaborate and coordinate effectively with cross-functional teams, including data engineers, data scientists, and subject matter experts, to achieve organizational goals and drive data-driven initiatives.
• Interact with the Risk Adjustment Coding Operations leadership to create reporting, dashboards, etc, using information obtained from data mining or analysis.
• Perform data manipulations and statistical analysis to identify trends, patterns, and insights.
• Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and visualizations to communicate findings to stakeholders.

Required Skills / Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Health Services or or related field; MBA or advanced degree is a plus
• 3-5+ years of experience in strategic analysis, consulting, or related roles, preferably for growing technology or healthcare companies
• Proven track record of driving results through data-driven decision-making and strategic planning
• Experience in healthcare, technology sectors, or consulting preferred
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely both upstream and downstream
• Proficiency in data analysis tools and programming languages-SQL, Python
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically and conceptually about complex business challenges, identify root causes, and develop data-driven solutions.
• Demonstrated data visualization and storytelling expertise, utilizing advanced tools and frameworks to create compelling and interactive data visualizations.  Technical knowledge of BI techniques and data visualization tools like Tableau and Looker. 
• Strong business acumen, strategic thinking, stakeholder management, and the ability to align data strategies with organizational objectives, industry trends, and market dynamics.
• High agency, integrity, ownership, and curiosity.

What success looks like

• In 1 month, you have partnered with one of the stakeholder groups and understood their relevant data sources.
• In 3 months: you have understood the business objectives of your stakeholders and put together the list of metrics and KPIs that they should track and monitor
• In 6 months, you have led 2-3 projects working with stakeholders end-to-end, going from requirements to KPI / dashboard delivery.
