Summary:
The Operations Business Development Manager proactively supports, consults with, or coordinates multiple efforts and teams. This person will be involved in the development, review, and integration of project work scope, budget estimates, and manpower requirements as it relates to discovery, diligence, and integration of new programs or strategies. In addition, the manager will be involved in the coordination of critical, multilevel projects involving customers, vendors, and consultants. This person keeps management informed of project accomplishments and major problem areas as well as budget and schedule status.
Key Elements of the Position:
In collaboration with the Business Development & Corporate Strategy Group and the Operations Functional Staff, develop and execute a "Program Plan" utilizing the methods and templates as defined in the Operations Business Development Program Management (OBDPM) Playbook.
- The functional departments as defined in Operations include: Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Facilities, Global Supply Chain, Plant Operations, and Operations Program Management.
- To reach out as required to the Outside North America (ONA) facilities for the coordination and execution of the program deliverables.
- Program Plan development must also consider the inclusion of "Non-Operations" departmental milestones including but not limited to Product Engineering, Purchasing, Product Planning, Marketing Sales Service and other significant events, Allison Staff and Operations Management Team reviews.
- Responsible and accountable to maintain program timing, cost, and quality by working up, down, and across the organization in a collaborative, professional, and catalytic manner.
- Organizes, schedules, and conducts internal launch and gate reviews highlighting the deliverables that would have a negative effect on the cost, quality, and delivery of the program.
- Effective utilization of a "Recovery Plan" in order to maintain program deliverables.

- Ability to lead and influence others in order to deliver a Program on time, to budget, with the defined quality level in exceeding customer expectations
- Effectively communicate both positive and negative projections/outcomes to multiple levels with appropriate timing and delivery
- Demonstrate competency in the timely and accurate completion of program documents
- Maintain a high level of organizational credibility through thorough investigation, calculation, and assessment
- Organize documents using the established methodology, tools, and templates in Microsoft SharePoint. This is the repository for program documents.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Technology, Business, or Finance.
- Work experience: 5-10 years in a related position or relevant experience
Preferred Experience:
- Prior Program or Project Management experience
- Knowledge of best practices in automotive or equipment manufacturing.
- Experience or familiarity with lean manufacturing principles for machining and assembly operations.
- Engineering understanding - Manufacturing, design, and/or industrial engineering experience/knowledge
- Financial acumen - General accounting principles, prior budgeting experience, business valuation, project costing
