Operations Cost Optimization Intern

Medica is a non-profit health insurance company headquartered in Minnetonka, MN with offices in St. Paul, Madison, Duluth, St. Cloud, Fargo and Omaha. The company is active across the heart of America and is a provider health care coverage in multiple markets. Medica is engaged in our communities through the charitable grant-making work of the Medica Foundation and through active employee giving and volunteer programs.

We're looking for an intern willing to work 40 hours a week as part of our summer internship program. The intern will support a wide variety of tasks within the operations workforce management and cost optimization team. The internship will provide the selected candidate a unique combination of experience in both operations business processes and financial analysis.

Qualifications:

• Currently pursuing a BS Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field, or pursuing a master's degree with a BS in any of the above
• Previous health plan or health care related experience is helpful, but not required

Skills & Abilities:

• Development experience in Microsoft Excel
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, intellectual curiosity and a professional demeanor, high drive to learn and willingness to be persistent in solving challenging problems.
• Aptitude to develop business and technical acumen.

This position is a Hub role, which requires an employee to occasionally come onsite to the designated office, Twin Cities for applicable heads-up work. Frequency is determined by business need as decided by leadership.
