The Role
As we continue to grow as QuidelOrtho, we are seeking an Operations Planning Analyst to work onsite at our Carlsbad manufacturing facility. The Operations Planning Analyst is responsible for the production planning and inventory control activities necessary to plan, schedule and control production. Ensure timely production and appropriate inventory levels manufactured items. Participate in or lead process improvement projects. Work with manufacturing to optimize operations and develop lean manufacturing methods including batch sizes, product structures, MRP parameters, WIP flow and demand-pull scheduling. Demonstrates expert level of knowledge in production planning. Interfaces with other supply chain functions. Performs master production scheduling functions in the absence of the Master Scheduler. Keep current on new methods in production and inventory control.
The Responsibilities

Assists the Manager of Planning department with maintaining the Master Production Schedule. Performs master scheduling functions in the absence of the Manager.

Determines production schedules using the Master Production Schedule, Material Requirements Planning, Capacity Requirements Planning and established scheduling policies.

Prepares, releases and maintains work orders. Prepares and releases purchase orders for subcontract manufacturing.

Confers with Process Group Leads/Supervisors to determine status of assigned production. Communicates delays and/or changes to the daily/weekly schedules.

Leads or participates in manufacturing optimization and lean manufacturing projects.

Creates reports to display material progress, needs, current activity and performance to plan.

Reviews material structures for configuration accuracy. Maintains planning parameters according to established policies.

Provides both shop floor control and chemistry group functions with inventory requirements to meet customer orders and marketing forecast inventory demands.

Re-defines inventory delivery priorities and re-schedule as required.

Assures timely, consistent and accurate ordering of inventory to current policies and procedures.

Supports management of status of work in progress, material availability, and potential production problems.

Ensures accurate tracking and resolution of production shortages as required to support customer objectives.

Advises sales department of customer order delivery schedule exceptions and alternative action.

Supports sub-assembly and assembly manufacturing functions as required

Monitors subassembly expiration dates and takes appropriate action to avoid expiry.

Represents the Planning Department on project teams.

Carries out duties in compliance with established business policies.

Works under minimal supervision when involved with routine activities and when following established policies and procedures. A Senior Production Planner solves problems and makes decisions on a daily basis to ensure a smooth flow of materials/products through manufacturing. A Senior Production Planner analyzes systematic problems and develops innovative solutions.

The Individual
-
BS degree in Supply Chain, Operations Management, Business Administration, related field or equivalent may be substituted for years of experience. Required.

Minimum 3 years of planning experience in a multi-product manufacturing plant using material requirements planning. Experience in manufacturing products similar to QuidelOrtho's products may be substituted for planning experience.

Expert knowledge of MRP, MPS, JIT, CRP, ERP2 and inventory management principles.

High organization skills and attention to detail

Proficient in MS Excel

Excellent communication skills and ability to effectively coordinate activities of other departments to meet production schedules

Experience in a production environment, planning, and working with performance indicators, process optimization and continuous improvement a plus.
Preferred:

APICS certification highly desirable; APICS certification may be substituted for up to three yearsβ experience

The Work Environment
The work environment characteristics are representative of both an office and laboratory environment and may include handling of potentially hazardous chemicals. Some time spent in production areas and warehouse. Flexible work hours to meet product demand and project deadlines. Position requires ability to lift up to 30 lbs. on occasion. Typically, 30% of time in meetings; 70% of time at the desk on computer/doing paperwork/ on phone, doing analytical work. Some walking in manufacturing areas required. Position may require use of Personal Protective Equipment as posted.Β
Salary Transparency
The salary range for this position takes into account a wide range of factors including education, experience, knowledge, skills, geography, and abilities of the candidate, in addition to internal equity and alignment with market data. At QuidelOrtho, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The salary range for this position is $79,000.00 - $134,000.00 USD. QuidelOrtho offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, along with a 401(k) plan, employee assistance program, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, paid time off (including sick time), and paid Holidays. All benefits are non-contractual, and QuidelOrtho may amend, terminate, or enhance the benefits provided, as it deems appropriate.
