Job Description
Whitebox, a rapidly growing Baltimore based e-commerce startup, is looking for an Operations Engineer to be the executive leader of fulfillment operations for our North American operation. As an Operations Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and managing process improvement roadmaps within a specific business unit across the entire Whitebox fulfillment network. You will work closely with the operations leaders in each warehouse to set & measure adherence to standard work, identify and communicate areas of opportunity, coordinate with a diverse group of stakeholders, and create mechanisms to deliver scalable results for the business.
This position offers the opportunity to influence an organization across multiple geographies and requires excellent communication (both written and verbal) as well as organizational skills. You will work with the Director of Operations to design & execute the strategy for improving our fulfillment network execution along with our General Managers in Baltimore, Las Vegas & Memphis to deliver the highest levels of safety, quality, performance and engagement.
Key responsibilities include:• Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives - reduce cycle times and remove non-value added touches for the FC and store transshipment processes• Define, document and implement standard operating procedures and best practices - Work with L&D, FC Operations, Go Supply Chain, and Go Operations to define standards and processes• Accountability for meeting and exceeding operational goals.• Strategic planning and forecasting• Mentor, train and develop teammates for career progression and learning• Ability to develop and share best practices across the network• Creating, establish and maintaining quality control standards• Review performance and VoC insights and engage stakeholders to root cause and resolve defects in the customer experience• Supporting all safety programs and OSHA compliance to ensure a safe work environment for all Associates
Basic Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in in Engineering, Operations, or a related field.• 5-7 years of experience working in warehouse operations leadership roles• You are authorized to work in the US without sponsorship• You pride yourself in leading others; you have direct management experience in leading leaders.• You have an eye for efficiency and have experience identifying and executing process improvement initiatives.• You take ownership in your work and team and are available to work overtime during Whitebox's peak holiday season and as needed year-round. In addition, you are flexible to work on any type of assigned shift (nights, weekends, etc.).• Lifting and moving material up to 49 pounds each• Bending, lifting, stretching and reaching both below the waist and above the head• Standing and walking for up to 10-12 hours a day
Preferred Qualifications • Advanced degree (MS, MA, MBA) from an accredited university• You have the ability to thrive in an ambiguous environment, and when given a deadline you know how to motivate yourself and meet it.• Strong verbal and written communication skills.• Enjoy analytical work and using data to provide thought-provoking and workable solutions. Data is what you look to when given a problem to solve.• Strong change management and influence skills; ability to negotiate and communicate across all levels of the organization.• Demonstrated ability to make courageous recommendations and decisions to drive significant organizational change.• Demonstrated skills leading and influencing global business partners.• Proven ability to influence others without having positional authority• Ability to Deep Dive into data, processes, and systems and develop innovative ideas for process challenges
