Job Description

NOV is actively recruiting ambitious college/university graduates for an Operations Engineer role that will be part of our Pathway Rotational Program with in the Rigs segment in the Pressure Control Group, at 6390 Eldridge Parkway in Houston.

The NOV Pathway Rotational Program offers recent college graduates the opportunity to obtain meaningful work experiences through a structured 2-to-3-year rotational program. The program is designed to help participants develop strong functional/technical expertise and business knowledge through challenging, hands-on assignments and exposure to various groups across NOV. Towards the end of the program, participants will work with their management support team to identify full-time positions that best suit individual skill sets as well as company needs.

Participants remain on one career track based on education and career interest. Each career track has its own training and experience-based learning objectives, and knowledge and performance are evaluated following each rotation. The start date for this program will be January 23, 2023.

Following the Operations career track, the primary responsibilities will be as follows:
  • Rotations will include but not limited to:
    • Engineering fundamentals
      • Basic understanding of product/design engineering, manufacturing engineering, including multi-layered bills of materials (BOMs), routers, engineering systems, engineering changes and implementation.
    • Process flow fundamentals
      • Understanding the flow from order to delivery in a manufacturing environment including, routing, standard time, scheduling techniques, capacity management and queuing and simulation.
    • Supply chain management
      • Understanding of supply chain functions including planning and purchasing functions, ERP and supply chain management tools including vendor management tools and metrics.
    • Standard costing
      • Understand elements of standard costing and variances.
    • Quality
      • Know all the elements of quality assurance and quality control including ISO and API, document control, quality tools including non-conformances, corrective and preventive actions, lean manufacturing and process improvement.
    • Health, safety and environment
      • Have a working knowledge of NOV Safety Standards.
    • Resource planning
      • Have a functional knowledge of MRP/ERP including backward scheduling, significance of dates, demand management and forecasting, distribution requirements planning and inventory.
    • Organizational navigation
      • Understand the various parts of the organization, how operations interfaces with them, and what they require from engineering.

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering
  • Recent graduate or will be graduating in January 2023
  • Completion of professional engineering or operations internship
  • Demonstrated Leadership Experience
  • Internship or work experience in a manufacturing company / environment required
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate ideas and thoughts clearly
  • Able to work independently with the ability to multitask on multiple projects
  • Strong attention to detail and highly motivated
