Operations Manager

General Dynamics Information Technology, a world leader in Defense IT Systems Integration and Services is seeking an Operations Manager to provide quality IT services. Using IT Service Management and Program Management skills and best practices the Operations Manager will manage the daily activities of over 50 IT professionals in in Colorado Springs in addition to other sites around the US and three OCONUS sites. This individual must possess strong leadership, communication, planning skills, and have a broad IT background in systems, servers, networks and hardware experience gained in managing and delivering critical IT services.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and coordinate individuals responsible for the production systems, resource management and operational project assignments.
  • Ensure infrastructure components such as but not limited to Networks, Data Centers, Servers, SANs, NAS, Virtual Machines, Cloud Service Providers and storage components are optimally maintained to achieve the highest value to the customer.
  • Participate in other functional areas to resolve production problems and initiate corrective actions.
  • Meet expected quality of service on maintenance and deploy upgrades, enhancements, and modifications to operational systems.
  • Promote and implement standards and procedures.
  • Work within the established change control processes and coordinate appropriate downtime activities with internal and external consumers.
  • Prepare for and respond to audits for compliance with established standards, policies, configuration guidelines and procedures.
  • Maintain and expand comprehensive system hardware and software configuration database/library of all supporting documentation.
  • Participate in planning and implementation of IT modernization activities, and systems integration.

Required Experience:

  • 5+ years of IT technical operations management experience
  • A solid enterprise IT, cyber, and program management background and experience
  • Effectively managed an IT staff of 50 or more
  • Experience in DoD IT enterprise; understanding of DoD IT directives and guidelines.

Required Technical Skills:

  • Experience in managing or supporting fast-paced enterprise IT service desk, engineering teams, and operations teams.
  • Experience in executing Cyber (RMF, IA), networks, systems engineering scopes

Security Clearance Level:

  • Must be US Citizen
  • Active TS/SCI

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent customer communication as well as team building.
  • Ability to communicate with Government/military personnel at all levels; impart confidence in GDIT's commitment and ability to support this program.
  • Ability to respond effectively to urgent requests, marshal resources, and support surge requirements.
  • Ability to inspire an IT team; create professional working atmosphere, provide coaching, mentoring, tracking employee performance.
  • Demonstrated success improving, optimizing, standardizing, and streamlining customer support processes that yielded improvements in customer satisfaction. Demonstrated experience providing performance-based customer service support against multiple performance metrics in the Federal Government. Experience in effectively communicating with Government personnel, including agency executives.
  • Security certifications per DoD Directive 8140.03. IAT/IAM - II or greater

Preferred Skills:

  • Current or previous experience with NORAD or other DoD components
  • Experience working with ITIL-compliant Service Desk systems.
  • Implementation, execution, and management of ITSM tools like BMC Remedy, ServiceNow, etc.
  • Computing Environment certifications are desired: VMware VCP DCV, Cisco experience in Data Center ACI, Data Center Operations, Data Center Automation, and related technologies, Nutanix. Microsoft 365, Microsoft Azure/AWS
  • Security certifications following DoD 8140 IAM-III
  • 5+ years experience supporting geographically dispersed teams
  • 3+ years experience with DoD IA policy and guidelines
  • 6+ years as an operations manager supporting Enterprise IT services and management for military commands
  • Executing IT modernization efforts including Cloud capabilities, Zero-trust, VDI, and network architectures

The likely salary range for this position is $92,331 - $154,211. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
