Job Purpose:
Responsible for managing the plant manufacturing and shipping functions of the Tonawanda facility. Provides leadership to production and shipping teams in accomplishing facility goals and objectives in support of company business plans. Meets established product line specifications, quality standards, productivity and maintenance objectives, housekeeping and safety requirements. Plans, organizes, directs and reviews the implementation of organizational and operational procedures and policies.
Reports to the WNY Plant Manager, and directly supervises Shift Advisors and Process Specialist.
Continuous interaction with Tonawanda Manager QA, Human Resource Manager, Accounting, Product Managers, Technical Branch, Purchasing and Engineering.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science or Arts in Engineering, Management, Manufacturing, Business or a related degree.
- Technical degree preferred.
- Seven to ten years of applicable experience, with at least 5 years of manufacturing/engineering supervisory experience in a continuous process environment.
- Proficient in Adaptive Coaching skills of listening, asking and responding.
Key Accountabilities:
- Maintain an optimal level of finished goods to support sales/shipping requirements while minimizing manufacturing costs.
- Achieve planned performance objectives (rates, yields, etc.) for all product lines.
- Achieve planned performance objective for on-time delivery and inventory accuracy.
- Comply with manufacturing standards to achieve established product quality goals.
- Compile and prepare annual cost savings projection and report actual achievements monthly.
- Assist in developing and implementing new products and processes. Coordinate major equipment modifications and process improvements.
- Participate in determining and maintaining process capabilities.
- Maintain effective and supportive relationship with customer service to supplement the on-line inventory control system and improve customer relations.
- Facilitate employee involvement by practicing effective communications and sound human resource methods.
- Develop alternatives and options to maximize labor and capacity utilization and minimize energy costs and scheduling disruptions.
- Complete performance appraisals for direct subordinates.
- Maintain adequate inventory levels of supplies and raw material required for production needs within established inventory goals and guideline
- Monitor and participate in all Disciplinary Actions.
- Establish vacation schedules for Supervisors, Production, Shipping and Sanitation employees.
- Review production schedule, communicate revisions and other operational requirements to direct reports and other departments.
- Interface with customers as required to ensure that customer requirements are met.
- Ensure that a safe, clean and hazard-free work environment exists in the facility.
- Direct the activities of a team of Production Advisors. Coach and encourage their performance to objectives.
- Ensure that all plant policies and procedures are followed in a timely fashion.
- Assist in Human Resource activities (interviewing, team meetings, plant activities, manpower planning, contract negotiations, etc.).
- Contribute to the decision making efforts of the Plant Staff by providing professional advice and personal opinion in areas of competency.
- Promote Tonawanda Plant Safety Process, ensuring the total involvement of all advisors and employees.
- Must comply with all rules and regulations pertaining to Federal, State, Local and Company HSEQ.
- Conduct monthly coaching sessions with direct reports.
Compensation Range: 90-150k
