Operations Manager

Department: Operations Job Status: Full-Time Reports to: Regional OTR Manager

POSITION SUMMARY

This position is responsible for effectively managing the dedicated fleet while exceeding customer expectations. The Operations Manager will develop, coach, and train all employees including drivers in a fair and equitable manner.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Manage daily operational planning and execution of all routes.
• Efficiently plan all truck routes while increasing profitability and fully utilizing every driver.
• Ensure on time pickups and deliveries to exceed our customers' needs.
• Ensure driver safety, including DOT compliance, safe working conditions, and maintaining company standards and policies.
• Enforce and practice all safety rules of the company, government agencies, including but not limited to DOT and OSHA.
• Manage and maintain employee schedules, time off request, PTO, etc.
• Supervise timely communication with customers and drivers.
• Monitor and coordinate completion of all computer work for TMW, Total Mail, Samsara, etc.
• Notify drivers of all changes affecting their route (Customer cancellations, pick-ups, location changes, accidents, etc.)
• Monitor and coordinate load coverage and required expedites.
• Complete all administrative functions on a timely basis as required.
• Problem solves by involving all team members and support staff.
• Build a strong support team utilizing coaching and development planning.

Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Associate or bachelor's degree preferred.
• Knowledge of TMW Suite.
• Planning and Tracking loads.
• Understanding of DOT guidelines including driver HOS rules.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel and Word)
• Willingness to work weekends and holidays.
• Willingness to work different shifts when needed.

Requirements:

• Looking for someone who is driven, detail-oriented, highly organized, and possess the ability to multitask and prioritize.
• Must possess good communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Prior knowledge of the trucking/logistics industry a plus.
• Ability to develop, coach, and motivate a team.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

Proficiency in Microsoft programs such as Word, Excel, and Outlook email required. Knowledge of TMW software is a plus. Must have the ability to learn new programs as necessary.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This is an office position within our cross-dock facility. You will need to follow all correct and proper PPE requirements set when entering the dock area. Such as but not limited to, wearing a reflective vest, shirt, or jacket.
