Job Description

It is preferred that the candidate selected work out of the Gavilon office located in Omaha, NE. However, remote work will be considered for individuals working remotely in Nebraska, Iowa and South Dakota.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Assist with preparation and/or oversight of the development of design and feasibility studies for projects at facilities.
  • Develop and review project cost estimates and direct modifications as appropriate and required.
  • Prepare and/or review budgets for expenditures on outside consulting engineers and regularly review the work of consultants.
  • Provide Effective and proactive communication with all site leaders.
  • Review equipment specification recommendations and review construction bid packages.
  • Prepare and/or review and monitor controls on scheduling and project costs.
  • Prepare and/or assemble periodic project reports and engineering activities summaries for projects he/she is managing.
  • Work with the Director of Engineering, Regional Operations Management to evaluate, plan and develop capital expenditure projects.
  • Ensure capital and expense projects are aligned with business unit objectives and completed safely within scope, schedule and budget.
  • Manage project submission process to include evaluation of projects, review of proposals and advise on project feasibility.
  • Provide assistance to plant locations in identifying and developing projects resulting in improved efficiencies, added profit or cost savings.
  • Always ensure compliance with Gavilon safety policies by putting safety before profit and production.
  • Demonstrate ability to control Scope, Cost, and Schedule on all assigned projects.
  • Lead by example to ensure that safety culture is a natural part of daily duties.
  • Communicate and model good business practices that support the company's core values.


Qualifications/Education/Experience/Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred with an emphasis in Engineering or Construction Management
  • Minimum 5 years of grain operations or combined project management and construction experience required.
  • Experience in leading an effective project team
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working with engineering colleagues across multiple disciplines.
  • Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office skills preferred
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work and interact well with others
