The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the Modeling and Simulation Principal Technical Advisor (PTA) and lead efforts to integrate modeling and simulation techniques across the National Air and Space Intelligence Center through modernization of analytic workflows and digital transformation. This is an interdisciplinary position.

- Requires a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Engineering, physics, computer science, from an accredited institution, related engineering disciplines, or its equivalent experience.
- A professional degree at the bachelor's level from an ABET accredited institution is required. An advanced degree in engineering is preferred.
- Drug Testing: This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program.
- Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing. Illegal drug use by employees in sensitive positions presents a clear threat to the mission of the Air Force, national security, and public safety.
- A non-disclosure agreement must be signed.
- Position is special-sensitive and requires eligibility for access to SCI, other intelligence-related Special Sensitive information, or involvement in Top Secret Special Access Programs to fully perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.
Qualifications
This is a GG-14 position in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). The GG-14 duties for the "Professional" work category are at the "Senior" work level and are equivalent to those at the GS-14 level. The selectee's salary will be set within the grade equivalent to a GS/GG grade based on the selectee's qualifications in relation to the job.
To qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements describes in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Professional and Scientific Positions.
BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT:
ELECTRONICS ENGINEER 0855
A. Degree: Engineering. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by ABET; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics.

B. Combination of education and experience -- college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering. PHYSICIST 1310
A. Degree: physics; or related degree that included at least 24 semester hours in physics.
OR
B.Combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in physics totaling at least 24 semester hours, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
OPERATIONS RESEARCH ANALYST 1515
A. Degree: Operations Research
OR
B. At least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics. At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus.
MATHEMATICIAN 1520
A. Degree: mathematics; or the equivalent of a major that included at least 24 semester hours in mathematics.
OR
B. Combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in mathematics (including at least 24 semester hours in mathematics), as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
COMPUTER SCIENTIST 1550
A. Degree: Computer Science
OR
B.Bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Your resume must reflect the quality level of experience which demonstrates the possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for successful job performance required for this position. Examples of creditable experience include: knowledge of a wide range of concepts covering services acquisition planning; knowledge of principles, policies, and practices of systems acquisition and program management; knowledge of multi-disciplinary topics such as operations research, electrical engineering, computer science, physics, mathematics as well as concepts, principles, standards, methods, techniques, practices, and procedures to effectively apply engineering theories, principles, and concepts to new threat analysis applications and software developments. Note: Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector, or experience gained in another government agency.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Professional knowledge of multi-disciplinary topics such as operations research, electrical engineering, computer science, physics, mathematics as well as concepts, principles, standards, methods, techniques, practices, and procedures to effectively apply engineering theories, principles, and concepts to new threat analysis applications and software developments.
2. Professional knowledge of principles, concepts, and methodologies of modeling and simulation, all-source scientific and technical intelligence (S&TI) analysis including Intelligence Community Directives such as ICD 203/206, software development, technical project management, and associated production processes/policies to perform modeling, simulation, and analysis across the spectrum of the National Air and Space Intelligence Center's mission.
3. Professional knowledge of the mission, role, function, organizational structure, operation, and policy of the DoD, Air Force, and Intelligence Community; and their communication and information infrastructures and organizations.
4. Skill and ability to gather and analyze a variety of program information, make sound judgments concerning task progress and effectively communicate, including the presentation of technical problems and results in a logical and concise manner; skill and ability to apply practical thinking skills, attention to detail, balanced decision making, conceptual thinking, consistency, goal directedness, problem and situation analysis, reliability, and theoretical problem solving, emotional control, handling stress, initiative, job ethics, meeting standards, listening skills, personal accountability, commitment, and drive.
5. Ability to communicate both orally and in writing, clearly, concisely, and with technical accuracy; and ability to plan and organize work and consult effectively with co-workers and peers.
6. Ability to collaborate and effectively work within a group setting, maintain effective working relationships with a variety of technical representatives, peers, and government contractors; and skill in presenting technical findings and evaluations clearly, logically and concisely in a variety of verbal, written and graphical formats.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT CONTINUED:
-This position is covered by the DCIPS, and as such will subject the incumbent to those examinations and or tests that are necessary to obtain and retain a security clearance and any special accesses required by the position in accordance with AFI 36-1101. This position is a testing designated position and as such requires periodic urinalysis testing. Failure to comply with any of the special requirements when required, will subject the incumbent of this position to reassignment or disciplinary adverse action, including demotion or removal.
-Work is normally performed in a regular office setting. Work is mostly sedentary and may require long periods of time working at a desk or computer terminal. Other physical activities may include standing to deliver briefings, bending to file and climbing stairs. The entire facility is handicap accessible. Incumbent may be required to travel outside NASIC to attend training, meetings, workshops or seminars in order to teach, receive or exchange information in their area of expertise. In doing so, incumbent may be required to travel locally, within or outside the country.
