Operations Section Manager II - Securities Lending Services
The Operations Section Manger II - Securities Lending Services is responsible for the management and direction of the following teams: Data Control, Financial Accounting and Distribution, Settlements and Marks, and Recall Management. The individual establishes both individual supervisor and team initiatives based on the both the divisional and business goals. The individual will work in close coordination with the other Section Managers to ensure a global support model independent of time zone.
The position requires leadership and operational representation to both internal and external groups. Internally the individual will have daily interaction with Senior Management in GSL including operations, trading, relationship management, risk and OGC. Externally the individual will maintain contacts with our industry groups (RMA, PASLA, ISLA), software vendors, borrowers and third-party custodians.
The individual will have responsibility for the design and strategy of the individual groups and ongoing operational projects and expansion plans as required by operations in support of the line of business.

Key responsibilities include:
Production
- Ensure smooth and effective operations of Securities Lending Services. This includes escalation and resolution of high exposure items and issues.
- Supervise, guide, and direct all officers, supervisors, and staff within the units. Provide for the professional development of all staff through training, performance management and succession planning.
- Interface with clients, Securities Lending Traders, Relationship Managers, and counterparties on all operating issues relating to the firm's Securities Lending Business. Assist in new business development, additional operational models, new market research and support, and providing presentations and overviews to current and prospective clients.
Monitoring and Control
- In conjunction with the Department Manager, develop, maintain, and achieve an integrated Business Plan for the function. An integrated Business Plan aligns the following in support of business goals and objectives: organizational structure, systems priorities, budget, management reporting, and job descriptions. The plan must support the business goals and objectives of the GSL Division and Operations.
- Foster sound operational control principles within all areas of support. Create, review, and analyze all risk metrics to identify trends and process improvements.
People Management
- Develop employees by providing training, mentoring, performance management, succession planning as well as appropriately challenging assignments and assistance with career planning.
Process Improvement
- Develop and maintain a culture of results-oriented, continuous, process improvement. This includes developing and achieving leap goals, challenging all processes, procedures, and practices, and focusing on solutions (not "good reasons"). This culture must reach to all levels of the division and transcend the manager's tenure in the job.
Client Service
- Lead staff by setting high standards, providing a thoughtful approach, having a committed attitude, and by being an effective representative of BBH Operations.
- Partner with all groups where GSL has a presence including Boston, London, and Hong Kong to provide consistent support across all SL clients, whether custody or 3rd party.
- Be familiar with department, firm and industry initiatives affecting our clients. Gain sufficient knowledge to anticipate questions and/or issues raised by our clients.
Product Development
- Partner with GSL to enhance / modify current suite of products to support new business. Ensure our current offering is competitive, strategic, scalable and a cost-efficient solution for our clients.
Desired Qualifications:
- BA/BS degree or equivalent work experience.
- 5+ years of Securities Lending or related Financial Services knowledge.
- 3+ years of management experience.
- Experience with Global One, Equilend, SQL, database reporting tools a plus.
- Knowledge of trading markets and associated workflows.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrable controls and risk awareness experience.
- Ability to lead and motivate cross-functional teams and interact at all levels.
- Ability to communicate professionally with others.
- An aptitude for analysis and problem resolution.
- Self-starter, proactive, objective oriented, and able to operate independently.
- Strong people management and development skills.
- Administrative, organizational, and planning skills.
- Relationship and consensus building skills.
