Operations Specialist, Fees

We are looking for an Operations Analyst to join a team that centralizes global management, reconciliation, and analysis of trading-related fees for Jane Street. While our team has been in operation for a few years, in many ways we're still developing. This is a rare and exciting opportunity to help shape the foundation of a relatively new team at Jane Street.

On a daily basis, you’ll collaborate with a variety of groups internally—including but not limited to, Trading, Operations, Accounting, and Bank and Broker Management—to maintain and develop our fee infrastructure, optimize trading costs, and configure fees for new types of trading. You'll also work directly with counterparties, clearing firms, and the exchanges to investigate and reconcile any discrepancies. As the team continues to evolve, there may also be an opportunity to negotiate fee schedules and apply for fee exemptions and improved rates.

Attention to detail and a “no job too small” attitude will be important for the daily activities of this role. Additionally, the ability to see the big picture and appreciate how various pieces fit together will be key to helping us examine our processes and look for ways to improve.

This role offers a great introduction and exposure to many of the products we trade globally. We don’t expect you to know everything immediately, but you should be eager to learn, ask questions, and seek out feedback and input from others. Developing our approach to fees is an interesting challenge, and you’ll learn alongside our existing teams as we navigate this increasingly complex landscape together.

We are looking for someone who enjoys solving difficult problems and is energized by building out new processes. You should be comfortable communicating across teams, multitasking, and working with data. 

• Bachelor’s degree required
• 2-5 years of experience working in trading operations with a specificity in Fees
• Experienced in ensuring accurate reflection of trading fees and rebates
• Enjoys working with large data sets to find patterns and identify irregularities
• Can easily navigate Excel, and loves to find faster ways to process data. Experience with SQL is a plus 
• Self-starter, detail-oriented, critical thinker who can multitask in a fast-moving, highly intellectual environment
• Humble about what you know and don’t know; not afraid to ask questions
• Reliable and flexible team player with a positive demeanor
• Strong interest in learning about the financial markets and the day-to-day operations of the firm
• Fluency in English required
