Overview of the team/department:

This role is to lead the New York operations team, which sits locally within the New York infrastructure team and globally within a wider Operations team.
Operations currently has teams in London, Singapore and New York.

Role requirements:

Sitting with the wider NY Infrastructure team and specifically with the New York Operations team:
- Lead a team of 3 people.
- Take full responsibility for the main local people management elements.

Including:

• Daily task management/division/monitoring.
• Ongoing coaching/training/development structure

Contribute to and work with London senior operations management (Operations team reporting line is into a London manager) and/or US senior infrastructure management on wider people management elements, including personal development plans and progress, formal performance tracking (including Year End Compensation review input).

Build relationship and lead the team’s interaction with:

• Bluecrest London and Singapore Operations teams.
• Bluecrest NY & Global Infrastructure teams (e.g. Technology, Product Control, Legal, Compliance, HR, Finance)
• Bluecrest “US time zone” trading teams
• Americas based external relationships (PB relationships, futures/OTC clearing, bilateral trading, exchanges)

NB: Our operations team is based in New York, but BC have numerous global trading bases, many which are typically trading heavier in a US time zone.

The successful applicant, will lead the NY operations team as it:

• Takes the lead on the main interactions from all US time zone trading teams (especially in the NY PM, where London processing has stopped for the day).
• Helps/supports flow traded all around the world, where processing in a US time zone makes sense.

BC Trading Flow may be across the following trade types/asset classes:

• Listed Futures & Options/Interest Rates, Money Markets, Equity, FX, Commodities
• Bond & Repo/Fixed Income, Corporate, G10, Emerging Markets
• Equity & CFD
• FX & FX Options/G10, Emerging Markets
• OTC/Interest Rates, Credit, Equity, Commodity

BC Operations Team may also be involved with:

• Building strong relationships with TAs & PMs in order to act as a conduit between Desk & Operations/other Infrastructure teams
• Establishing and maintaining front to back trade flow across each asset class

Experience required:

Essential:

• People management, in a financial trading flow, trading support setting.
• Knowledge across some of the trade types/asset classes that BC trade.
• Knowledge across some of the functions that BC operations support.
• Experience of working with external relationships
• Experience of working with a trading desk and an ability to demonstrate examples of helping and supporting a desk’s needs and requests AND examples of pushing back and holding a line, against a desk’s requests.

Desirable:

• Experience of managing “satellite” teams or working within a multi-region/round the clock operating footprint.

• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to work under pressure, prioritise and organise oneself and a team accordingly.
• Confidence in working “out of hours”, with respect to not having contact with London team, managers and support through second half of the NY day.
• Strong communication skills, ability to communicate complex issues simply to different types of audiences, including judgement on escalation back to London/other Regions
