The position's task is helping Pratt & Whitney build a standardized information technology solution to enable the Operational Excellence (OpX) strategy. The strategy calls for increased overall competitiveness, improved asset utilization, elimination of defects, increased manufacturing efficiency, and enhanced employee health and safety.

The position will advise and develop specifications for data collection, database schemas and systems integration for the OT layer, inclusive of the architecture and applications stack. Create standard deliverables, buy off procedures and governance model for the implementation and support of the solution. After creation, responsibilities for the position will be to ensure compliance with all Pratt & Whitney sites as well as integration suppliers.

Responsibilities:

Create and assist in the execution of standards to facilitate the implementation of smart manufacturing. This includes:
  • Applying expertise to technical problem resolution for current and future projects.
  • Communicating at all levels within RTX and Pratt & Whitney, as well as externally, tapping technical resources, forming teams and consulting with programs.
  • Operational Technology network architecture.
  • Design and implementation validation.
  • Requirements of hardware to support OT applications.
  • Component list per application including supplier selection.
  • Standard best practices, integration procedures and documentation.
  • Maintenance procedures including revision level standardization and control.
  • Training module creation and proficiency level definitions.
  • Data/Communication driver creation and maintenance.
  • Standard data collection templates that can be easily replicated.
  • Input on Firewall rule implementation.
  • Meeting all Environmental Health & Safety and Preventative Maintenance requirements associated with manufacturing development.

Direct Job Responsibilities Include:
  • Provide an expert level of understanding of data acquisition, management and execution to all levels of the organization.
  • Works to influence parties within and outside of department at an operational level regarding policies, practices and procedures.
  • Assist as resource in the capital procurement process.
  • Provide foundational requirements and details on database objects.
  • Communicate with business partners both local, remote, internally, and externally.
  • Foster open communications with team members to promote a positive work environment.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree required; master's degree preferred in computer science, software engineering or manufacturing engineering.
  • The ability to "speak" both OT and IT.
  • Demonstrated experience in database design and 10+ years of experience in automated systems specifically in manufacturing environments.
  • US Citizen due to program requirements.
  • The ability to obtain a US Government Secret Clearance.
  • Excellent judgment and professional maturity.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience deploying data-driven, smart manufacturing technologies to boost agility and competitiveness.
  • Ignition, Python, PowerShell, SQL Server, Windows Server and Linux.
  • Strong communication, collaboration and team building skills; ability to connect with all levels of the organization.
  • Candidate should be self-starter and able to work with minimal direction.
  • Experience with controls design utilizing a broad range of components and architectures.
  • Extensive experience troubleshooting data acquisition and integrated applications.
  • Extensive knowledge of SQL databases.
  • Extensive experience with software development and Ignition protocols.
  • Understanding of OPC UA interfaces.
  • Experience with system software, PLC code development, and HMI development.
  • Understanding how IT networks are segmented.
  • Understanding of Software Defined Networking.
  • Extensive experience of server configuration & access.
