Join us as an Operations Lead Specialist, Foreign Exchange Settlements

POSITION SUMMARY

The Ops Lead Specialist - FX Settlements is responsible for Settlements within Foreign Exchange Services, ensuring that all trades executed with BBH's FX trading desk are settled in a timely and accurate manner on value date. The specialist will be expected to train with all units within the department and understand all functions related to an FX transaction post-trade execution, including Confirmations, Standard Settlement Instructions, Settlements and Investigations. They assist the supervisor/manager in the area and when needed will fill in for those individuals in their absence.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Transaction Processing

• Ensuring timely settlement of FX trades executed through various FX trading desks and platforms
• Developing knowledge of FX trade-related SWIFT messages and fields required for FX transaction confirmation and payments.
• Verifying FX transaction instructions to be released on value date.
• Escalating trade discrepancies to FX trade initiation and management team, when appropriate.
• Seeking out and exploiting opportunities to improve post-execution processes, either through automation or procedural revision.
• Accurate and timely settlements of transactions in the bilateral netting system.
• Responsible for monitoring swift repair queue
• Responsible for monitoring/logging of FX OFAC queue.
• Overseeing CLS Settlement by checking the CLS system for exceptions

2. Quality Control/ Assurance

• Ensuring accurate settlement of FX trades per Standard Settlement Instructions provided by BBH clients and counterparties.
• Responsible for monitoring swift repair queue
• Responsible for monitoring and responding to queries related to the FX OFAC queue.

3. People Management

• Provide training to other team members on job procedure and processes.
• Assist team members with day to day activities/provide back-up support to supervisor when necessary.

4. Client Service

• Validate currency settlements instructions for custody, third party and inter-bank counterparties.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• BS/BA degree
• 12 to 18 months FX Operations, Derivatives or related Financial Services experience

Knowledge and skills (general and technical)

• Ability to multi-task and prioritize volume
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
• Proactive approach to daily work and ability to handle multiple responsibilities
• Ability to communicate professionally with others
• Strong client service skills
• Strong attention to detail
• MS Office proficiency required-included MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Access.

Other requirements (licenses, certifications, specialized training, physical or mental abilities required)

• Some interest in progressing on the supervisory/management track within operations * BBH Core Systems

Salary Range

$55,000 to $70000

BBH's compensation program includes base salary, discretionary bonuses, and profit-sharing. The anticipated base salary range shown above is only for the New York City and/or Jersey City location(s) and may differ in other locations due to cost of living and labor considerations. Base salaries may vary based on factors such as skill, experience and qualification for the role.
