Job Position Description:
As an Optical System Engineer in the IP Routing group, you will be responsible for: the development and qualification of new photonics hardware; the integration of optical transceiver for the Service Router product line; the maintenance of hardware and systems integrity. This position requires self-starters who can manage complex projects from concept through release to production. You will work with a high-end highly motivated team of engineering professionals and have major responsibly to drive the process of new product introduction.
What you will learn and contribute to
- Build up optical test beds. Perform qualification of pluggable optical transceiver.
- Foster constructive and collaborative relationships with external suppliers.
- Work closely with hardware team, product line manager, software team and compliance team to understand internal requirements.
- Work closely with procurement manager, business development and commodity manger to select external supplier to meet Nokia's request.
- Assist in developing specifications for module and plans for design verification testing.
Your skills and experience
Education:• BSC, MSCS, MSCE or similar is required.6-9 years of work experience in related areas.
Desired Qualifications:• BS or higher degree in EE or Applied Physics, with 2+ years of related industry experience.• Fluent programming ability in Python, LabVIEW, MATLAB, or similar.• Solid experience and knowledge in the integration and qualification of various photonic components, particularly high-speed pluggable optical transceivers.• Working knowledge on various instruments like bit error rate tester, network traffic analyzer, digital communication analyzer, real time oscilloscope, and optical spectrum analyzer.• Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
Desirable Credentials:• 5+ years of hands-on experience on network equipment from vendors like Nokia / Juniper / Cisco etc, and / or optical transport system from vendors like Nokia / Infinera / Ciena etc.• Familiar with testing methods and specification on NRZ / PAM4 signal. Conversant with various IEEE 802.3 standards, OIF implementation agreements and MSA specifications.• Comprehensive knowledge on coherent optical transceiver. Solid understanding in optical line system.• Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with competing priorities.
Minumum Qualifications: (Education, Technical Skills/Knowledge)• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering• Practical understanding of Oscilloscopes, Logic Analyzers, digital debug tools & techniques• Experience in high speed digital design, schematic capture and PCB layout design tool methodologies, and/or VHDL would be an asset.• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills• Strong verbal and written communication skills
