Optical Transport India R&D Director

Summary:

Job Description: This position is for a Director R&D in Bangalore, India. The key responsibility is to build and manage a World Class product development team as well as acting as the Facility leader. Objectives for this position are: - Responsible for the product development and driving the project in partnership with Sales & PLM teams to deliver quality products, initially in the Optical Transport / High Speed Ethernet product line. - Recruit and retain a highly-talented team of engineers potentially growing the team to 50+ Engineers – Govern Software Delivery Partners in India - Manage the R&D budget for the group - Mentor/Lead the team to be best in class in quality, innovation and time to market. Duties and Responsibilities - Manage multiple development projects, including detailed planning and scheduling, coordinating resource allocations based on established priorities - Recruit, retain, and lead a world class development team.

Duties & Responsibilities:

 - Education: degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent.  Masters or Doctorate preferred

 - Extensive track record in the development of complex (high-speed, multi-function) products.

 - Extensive experience leading a development team - Primary leadership role in 50+ headcount development teams

 - Deep Technical understanding and proven successful product development of the OSI model, All Layers, All Protocols in each layer

 - Aptitude for understanding business implications from a functional and technical perspective

 - Culturally aware and experience of matrix structures with capability to lead and influence colleagues regardless of location, experience and job function

 - Deep Detail orientation and proven ability to effectively manage complex Engineering projects

 - A proactive approach to risk management and continuous process improvement

 - Excellent verbal and written communication skills

 - Strong leadership, people management and communication skills

 - Ability to manage conflicts and bring technical resolution to open issues

 - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail
