Job Description
Job Summary: We are seeking a Database Administrator, specifically to support our Oracle DBs. The Database Administrator is responsible for the implementation, configuration, maintenance, and performance of critical Database systems. This role is also responsible to ensure availability and predictable performance of our qa/dev and production databases. The candidate should have a good understanding of networks and protocols to understand the impact of events, alarms and alerts on the various components as well as an understanding of concepts of other programming languages in regards to database usage. The candidate should also be able to provide guidance and advice to less experienced team members and to customers, service desk personnel and other stakeholders
Specific Requirements (Technical Knowledge, Software, Etc.)
- Should have at least 6+ Years of experience in Oracle Administration
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Demonstrate ability to work in a team environment and multi-task to meet critical deliverable dates
- Demonstrate ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technology tools and platforms
- Works with end users to translate business requirements into database technical specifications.
- Partners with IT and engineering to ensure database designs meet user requirements.
- Monitors database operations, analyzing and responding to performance and other maintenance issues.
- Liaises with developers and other technical personnel to ensure resolution of system issues, including memory, capacity, storage and accessibility.
- Plans and implements backup and recovery for all relevant applications.
- Diagnoses, develops and recommends solutions to complex systems, software, security and other issues.
- Develops, updates and maintains system manuals, documentation, policies, and procedures for installing, configuring, maintaining and using database systems and technologies.
Additional Skills (would like to have but not required)
- Experience Administering mySQL and Postgres Databases
- AWS (Cloud Architecture)
- AWS Database Offerings (Including migration experience)
- Knowledge of OpGenies or other On-call and alert management services.
Education
- BS or MS in CS or EE or equivalent work experience
