DMI, LLC is seeking a Oracle Database Systems Manager/Database Management Specialist (Senior)
Duties and Responsibilities:
A qualified resource will possess knowledge of Oracle Engineered Systems, Oracle Linux, and Oracle Databases.
Candidate will ensure the availability and stability of the Oracle database environment to support mission-critical applications maintained by Maryland State Police. The candidate will provide enterprise-wide, documented server support for Test, Development, Staging, and Production Oracle servers at the direction of his/her supervisor and will follow MSP's standard operating procedures.
Must be capable of providing highly technical expertise and support in the use of DBMS. Must be able to evaluate and recommend available DBMS products to support validated user requirements. Defines file organization, indexing methods, and security procedures for specific user applications.
The candidate will monitor and optimize the performance of the databases and database servers, maintain and monitor Data Guard, plan for backup and recovery of databases, and ensure availability of the Oracle Database Appliance system (ODA) across all environments.
This job entails after-hours support as needed.Teleworking may be permitted at the discretion of the hiring manager/supervisor, but the position is neither hybrid nor 100% remote.
Specific Work / Tasks
Deliverables / Acceptance Criteria
1. Installation, configuration, patching, monitoring, upgrading, troubleshooting of issues, and overall management of MSP's Oracle Linux and Oracle ASM systems in the Oracle Database Appliance (ODA) environment.
2. Managing Storage: Partitioning disks, creating filesystems, and setting up storage solutions like LVM or RAID for data redundancy and performance.
3. Optimization of data security tools/processes including, but not limited to:
*Oracle Transparent Data Encryption (TDE);
*Oracle Data Guard to ensure no loss of data;
* remediation of security vulnerabilities.
4. Working with Oracle Support: Collaborating with Oracle support teams to troubleshoot complex issues or seek guidance on best practices.
5. Management and configuration of Oracle Unified Auditing.
6. Implementation and management of Oracle database backup and recovery (RMAN); periodic review of data recovery procedures to ensure quick, reliable, and repeatable database restoration.
7. Recommend infrastructure configurations and updates.
8. Develop and maintain detailed documentation of Oracle support processes and instructional procedures.
9. Attendance at MSP ITD meetings (as required).
10. Regular status reporting of assigned tasks to MSP supervisor.
11. After-hours support (as required).
12. Helpdesk tickets as needed.
13. Other duties as assigned.
Deliverables will include, but are not limited to:
a) timely response to help desk tickets
b) all systems maintained and updated
c) Concise, clearly written documentation
d) daily monitoring of the ODA environment
configuration and documentation of Oracle Data Guard between data centers
e) documentation and periodic review of data backup and restore procedures; confirmation of current, validated backups
f) identify, report, document and resolve security vulnerabilities and server upgrades/changes
Qualifications
Education and Years of Experience:
A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or other related scientific or technical discipline or three (3) years of equivalent experience in a related field.
Two (2) additional years of specialized experience may be substituted for the required education.
Required and Desired Skills/Certifications:
- Experience with Oracle Engineered Systems and their related technologies (Specifically Oracle Data Appliance)
- Oracle Certified Associate/ Master (OCA or OCM) or related certifications.
- In-Depth knowledge or Oracle Linux.
- Experience with Oracle 12c and Oracle 19c to include Oracle Multi-tenancy as well as the management and maintenance of Container and Pluggable databases .
- Experience with any of the following: Oracle Data Guard, Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM), RMAN, Oracle Audit Logs, Oracle TDE, Oracle database migration methodologies including data pump export/import, cloning, RMAN transportable tablespaces, and cross-platform migration.
Additional Requirements:
Must have six (6) years of experience in DBMS systems analysis and programming.
At least three (3) years of experience in using Oracle Database Management technologies, application design and experience with DBMS internals.
