This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for an Oracle DBA in India.

This role is designed for a highly experienced database professional who will be responsible for managing, optimizing, and securing enterprise-grade database environments across both on-premises and cloud infrastructures. You will work on mission-critical Oracle and DB2 systems, ensuring high availability, performance, and reliability for large-scale applications. The position involves deep technical ownership of database architecture, performance tuning, and migration initiatives to modern cloud platforms. You will also play a key role in automation, incident management, and operational excellence across production environments. Working closely with cross-functional technical teams, you will help design scalable database solutions and ensure seamless data operations. This is a high-impact role where your expertise directly supports business continuity and system performance.

Accountabilities:

  • Administer, maintain, and optimize Oracle 12c and 19c databases, ensuring high performance, security, and availability across production environments.
  • Manage DB2 databases with a focus on stability, scalability, and efficient system performance.
  • Design, implement, and support cloud database solutions such as Cosmos DB or equivalent platforms.
  • Execute on-premises to cloud database migration projects while ensuring minimal downtime and data integrity.
  • Perform performance tuning, SQL optimization, and effective management of tablespaces, schemas, and storage allocation.
  • Implement Oracle Multitenant architecture (CDB/PDB) and manage patching, PSU updates, and system compliance activities.
  • Automate routine DBA operations using shell scripting (bash/ksh) and develop utilities for monitoring, reporting, and maintenance.
  • Respond to production incidents, perform troubleshooting, and support recovery, shutdown, and critical system operations.
  • Maintain detailed database documentation, standards, metadata, and operational procedures to support governance and scalability.
  • Requirements:

    • 8–13 years of experience in database administration in enterprise environments.
    • Strong hands-on expertise with Oracle 12c and 19c database administration (minimum 5+ years).
    • Proven experience in DB2 database management and performance optimization.
    • Experience working with cloud databases such as Cosmos DB or similar distributed database platforms.
    • Strong knowledge of SQL tuning, performance optimization, and database troubleshooting techniques.
    • Deep understanding of Oracle Multitenant architecture (CDB/PDB).
    • Proficiency in shell scripting (bash/ksh) for automation and operational efficiency.
    • Experience in on-premises to cloud migration projects and hybrid database environments.
    • Strong experience handling production incidents, recovery operations, and database patching (PSU).
    • Excellent documentation, collaboration, and communication skills across technical teams.
