Senior Oracle Database Administrator
Remote or Wilmington, DE
Monday - Friday
As a Sr. Database Administrator at CSC, you will play a role in the analysis, design, implementation, and support of Oracle Server and NoSQL. As a key member of our technical team, you will be involved in development, design, performance tuning, and maintenance. We are looking for a self-starter who is passionate about making a difference, working within a team, and delivering high quality software.
Some of the things you'll be doing:
- Oracle patching and database upgrades
- Identify and automate repeatable processes.
- Participate in performance tuning, table and schema design, and partitioning.
- Identify poorly performing SQL queries and PL/SQL code.
- Independently analyze, solve, and correct issues in real time, providing problem resolution end-to-end
- Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes; provide proactive and reactive data management support and training to users.
- Share domain and technical expertise, providing technical mentorship and cross-training to peers and team members.
- Configure and maintain database servers and processes, including monitoring of system health and performance to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security.
What technical skills, experience and qualifications do you need?
- Oracle Multitenant Database Support
- Demonstrated knowledge of RAC and ASM
- Demonstratable Oracle patching and upgrade implementations
- PL/SQL development and coding
- Strong experience in performance tuning especially tuning complex queries, procedure, and indexing strategies
- Database Administration skills including experience with RMAN backups, RMAN restores, and RMAN recovery models.
- Experience working with Linux servers.
- Excellent written and verbal communication; strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to organize and plan work independently, as well as the ability to work in a rapidly changing environment.
- Working closely with developers for process improvements, recommendations, and alternatives to current state applications
- Strong commitment to customer service and customer satisfaction.
- Ability to think strategically and proactively (rather than reactionary)
- Experience with other relational and noSQL database systems such as MongoDB, PostgreSQL, and MySQL
Additional Skills:
- Experience with automation software like Ansible.
- Experience with deployment tools like Jenkins.
- Experience with source code management tools like git.
- Knowledge of Oracle WebLogic, Apache, Tomcat, and IIS Web Servers.
- Shell scripting experience with at least one scripting language: Bash, sed, awk, Perl, python or ruby.
- Understanding of DNS
