Organics Solutions Logistics General Manager

 

Vanguard Renewables is the premier anaerobic digester developer/owner/operator in the United States. Our closed-loop anaerobic digestion process converts organic waste and cow manure into green electricity and renewable natural gas. We are headquartered in MA, funded by institutional capital partners, and currently have 20+ projects operating and in development in over 13 states.

 

Vanguard Renewables has set an objective of developing sixty (60) anerobic digesters across the United States by 2028. These digesters will require a total 18,000 organics waste tons per day to operate. They will require approximately 1,800 individual hauls per day and employ significant logistics personnel.

 

The Organics Solutions Logistics General Manager (GM) will be responsible for ramping up and building out the team to deliver logistics and operational services to the largest and most discerning clients in the US. The GM will directly support the Vice President of Organics Solutions. They will drive the strategy of the Sales Team by developing procedures and protocols to seamlessly manage 18,000 tons and 1,800 hauls per day. They will oversee the logistics team’s creation and implementation of best practices while engaging with hauling partners to aggressively into new markets. Most importantly, the GM will synthesize the efforts of the Logistics, Biology, Operations, Finance, Development, Siting, Legal and Accounting teams to provide a flawless client experience.

 

 

Responsibilities

  • Develop a New England and National Logistics platform that carves a path for sales to attract and retain the highest caliber, most-demanding clients in the USA.
  • Fully understand the company strategy and vision for the Organics Solutions team and use this knowledge to help scale and drive logistics and operational results.
  • Develop a template for the National logistics platform to support 18,000 tons and 1,800 hauls per day.
  • Implement best practices to improve operational performance, including devising an approach to scale at a rapid and high-volume pace.
  • Improve current logistics and operations processes to reach maximum tons per day in the New England facilities.
  • Expand hauler and third-party relationships in New England to reach maximum efficiencies.
  • Increase revenues and profitability in New England through disciplined cost management and increased efficiencies.
  • Prepare budget and manage P&L for Organics Solutions with reporting to Finance.
  • Deliver solutions to logistic roadblocks.
  • Coordinate efforts with Biology, Operations, Finance, Development, Siting, Legal and Accounting to drive the best results for Organics Solutions.
  • Support logistics team operations at any level when needed.

 

Skills and Qualifications

  • Willingness to travel 40% to engage with current and prospective strategic partners.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Business Administration, or related field
  • Significant logistics experience required.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Valid driver's license and ability to operate a motor vehicle is required.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in waste and environmental logistics strongly preferred.
  • Results-oriented with the ability to work independently in an entrepreneurial environment.
  • Experience and knowledge of financial business concepts including financial analysis.
  • Experience with cross-functional leadership and management.
  • Experience with basic software like MS office.
