We have an exciting opportunity for an Orion MER GEM Console Lead Engineer to join our team.
What you'll do all day:
- Coordinating development of MER GEM Tools for use during Artemis simulation and missions
- Coordinating & ensuring proper MER GEM Console Team member certification training
- Preparing MER GEM Mission Reference Materials
- Preparing MER GEM Console Support Schedules for simulation training and actual Missions
- Coordinating with MER Manager and other MER Consoles
Additional responsibilities include:
Orion Orbit Mode Team (OMT) Scrum Lead
- Coordinating and assigning tasks to the OMT scrum team members
- Coordinating with hardware in the loop labs and ensuring OMT analysis and test reports are generated as needed
- Performing analysis and analysis & test review as needed
- Maintain relationships with a diverse technical team, including personnel from engineering, safety, flight operations, crew office, and providers
- Perform other duties as required

Minimum requirements for this position:
This position has been posted at multiple levels. Depending on the candidate's experience, requirements, and business needs, we reserve the right to consider candidates at any level for which this position has been advertised.
- BS degree in Engineering from an accredited engineering school and fourteen (14) years of related engineering experience, or a MS degree from an accredited engineering school and twelve (12) years of direct engineering experience, or a Ph.D. from an accredited engineering school and nine (9) years of direct engineering experience
- Experience with orbital mechanics and GNC principles
- Experience analyzing system performance for spacecraft in an integrated GNC environment
- Experience with the design, verification, testing, and operation of GNC hardware and software
- Direct experience with NASA flight operations and procedures
- Experience with space systems requirements documents
- Working knowledge of NASA/ JSC standard practices and requirements including safety, fault tolerance, and unique disciplines
- Ability to prepare written documents and to verbally present at various meetings
- Ability to organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and schedules with limited supervision
- Strong interpersonal skills to enable successful performance in a collaborative engineering environment
- Expertise with Microsoft Office products
Desired skills and experience for this position:
- MS in Aerospace Engineering with a focus on GNC, flight controls, orbital mechanics
- Familiarity with spacecraft Rendezvous, Proximity Operations, and Docking
- Familiarity with NASA/JSC documentation databases and SharePoint sites
