Job Description

OSP Designer/Engineer

Cyient Inc. currently has an opening for a remote based Outside Plant (OSP) Design Engineer, responsible for OSP Fiber, FTTT/ FTTx, Copper Overbuilds, and BAU work orders in the greater capitol region. Ideal candidates will be self-motivated, intelligent individuals with previous OSP engineering and Field data collection experience. Ideal candidates will have previous experience designing multiple OSP telecom projects simultaneously, including (but not limited to) Pole/Make Ready, FTTP, FTTT, HiCap/ Enterprise Fiber and BAU projects.

A major plus if experienced with client software systems including ICGS/IDDS and PRS, GIS and/ or CAD. The ideal OSP Designer will also travel to the field to survey, confirm, and assess current field conditions and meet with the customer as they relate to ongoing OSP designs. Manage changes within the engineering lifecycle and work with drafting and delivery teams to ensure a quality delivery.

Candidate must have reliable transportation to multiple work locations daily and self-manage their work load and work schedule. A company vehicle is an option.

The OSP Designer will be paid hourly.

Position Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent; college degree (preferred)
• Must have experience in the Telecommunications Outside plant engineering and/or construction industry.
• Should have good understanding of basic computer concepts and technology. Experience with the following design programs: ICGS/IDDS and PRS is strongly preferred.
• Should have strong understanding of Design and construction of Outside Plant Copper and Fiber Optic Cable (UG, Aerial, Buried, BICS) and manhole and conduit design (strongly preferred).
• Knowledge of Fiber backbone (F1) and distribution networks (F2), 5G/Smart City high level designs is strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of permitting processes (highway, railroad, city, county, etc) are also highly desired.
• Should be proactive and a self-learner.
• Possess strong professional written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
• Advanced analytical and problem solving skills, including the ability to read, understand, interpret, input, and analyze data.
• Should have good attitude and ability to work independently and as a team member.
• Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks.
• Ability to communicate daily progress status to all reporting managers & stakeholders.
