The Outbound Wave Planner’s primary function is to schedule and organize shipments leaving a company’s warehouse or distribution center.
Job Duties:
- Ensure implementation of Company safety, health and environmental programs for employees whose work is directed. Ensure that safe work practices are followed, and the environment is fully protected in accordance with Company policy and governmental regulations.
- Commitment to the Company’s policies, principles, and procedures and adheres the Company’s procedures including Environmental, Health and Safety (“EH&S”), Equal Employment Opportunity (“EEO”), discipline/corrective action, and security.
- Manage all outbound, order fulfillment activity at the warehouse, including:
- Identify groups of outbound shipments for waves.
- Scheduling the pick waves for pickers to pick.
- Prioritizing which waves should be picked first.
- Print out shipping labels and manage distribution to outbound specialists.
- Work with the Outbound and Replenishment teams to ensure adequate flow of all outbound activity, mitigate bottlenecks in the picking process, etc.
- Coordinate with outbound associates to ensure timely picking and staging of all containers.
- Maintain a clean and organized WMS system making sure all orders are going out FIFO and with a quick turnaround.
- Monitor inventory levels in the order picking locations and make replenishment requests to restock needed items for pick waves.
- Always maintain a safe and clean environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Additional Requirements
- Experience with warehouse operations, inventory concepts and procedures.
- Knowledge and experience using Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) - Red Prairie and/or Softeon systems are a plus.
- Highly detail oriented and organized while operating in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to multitask.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Good problem-solving skills, and the ability to troubleshoot problems and think on their feet.
- Ability to work well both independently and in a team atmosphere.
- Ability to deal effectively with a wide range of personalities.
- First shift - flexibility to work overtime when necessary.
Education
- Some college is preferred but not required.
Experience
- A minimum of 2-5 years’ experience managing shipping/outbound warehouse activities.
Physical Requirements – Essential
- Proficient in Microsoft Office 365.
- Must be able to work in a warehouse environment.
- Must be able to read/write.
- Must be in good physical condition.
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around for extended periods.
- Capability to lift and carry boxes or materials, up to 25 to 30 lbs.
- Skill in handling & manipulating items, including operating equipment like hand trucks or pallet jacks.
- Agility to navigate through aisles and around equipment in a busy warehouse environment.
- Ability to work in varying temperatures and conditions typical of warehouse settings.
