Owner Engineer

Pine Gate Renewables (PGR) is seeking an Owner Engineer to support the continued expansion of its generating fleet and infrastructure development. The Owner Engineer will provide direction to the EPC contractor and act as Owners Engineer to a subset of Pine Gate's solar, storage, and transmission projects in the US, including responsibility to ensure superior operational, reliability, and technical performance, contract compliance, decision making and problem solving. Owner Engineer will report directly to the Vice President Owner Engineering.

• In coordination with the Owner Construction Manager, oversees the EPC scope development and coordinates the contracts for a portfolio of power generation facilities as an independent power producer.
• Oversees the EPC contractor during the design phase of the project and supports the construction manager during the construction portion of the project.  Monitors and reports on budget, schedule, and deliverables.
• Works closely with Grid Integration to select major equipment prior to EPC kickoff.
• In coordination with Owner Construction Manager, works with project managers and development leads to ensure complete package with all contract required items are updated and included for EPC handoff.
• Oversees EPC work at 30%, 60%, and 90% delivery milestones for completeness and adherence to contract.  Works with PGR’s Independent Engineer, finance team and transaction team to review proper documents for financing.
• Oversees PGR standards, environmental requirements, safety, and operating guidelines to ensure compliance by EPC contractor or subcontractors during construction.
• Oversees all equipment and performance related inquiries from EPC contractor for owner responsible questions. Works to resolve owner issues in a fast-paced high intensity construction cycle to keep project on budget and on time.
• Supports Owner Construction Manager during final project walkdown and inspection prior to handoff to PGR.  Responsible for equipment and performance related issues during the commissioning process.  Develops a working relationship with the EPC contractor to aid in project completion and transition to O&M.
• Propose and implement strategies to improve engineering, construction, and O&M reviews to enhance PGR’s ownership role and long-term strategy of operational excellence.
• Collaborate with team for oversight and direction of plant compliance with company objectives, governmental regulations, power purchase agreements, transmission authorities, operations and maintenance agreements, annual operating plans, and prudent engineering practices at each facility.

• 7+ years’ experience in Development, Operations, Maintenance, Dispatch and Optimization of energy generation and electric infrastructure assets.
• In-depth knowledge of solar and storage generating facilities, equipment and technologies with specific emphasis on inverters, modules, batteries and transmission switchgear.
• In-depth knowledge of transmission, substation, and communication equipment, construction, and operations.

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent.

• Travel up to 25% of the time to project sites.
