Job Description
The role of the PaaS DBA Support Engineer entails managing and supporting cloud-native database operations within the AWS public cloud environment for our customers. This includes virtual machine management, storage management, backup and recovery services, day-to-day operations and administration, as well as specialized PaaS operations tailored to the cloud platform.
Responsibilities:
- Virtual Machine Management:
- Manage virtual machine instances, storage, and network infrastructure supporting customer workloads within AWS public clouds.
- Ensure optimal performance and availability of virtual machines for internal and external business functionality.
- Administer servers, storage, and network services supporting customer's AWS public cloud environments, including business applications and enterprise systems.
- Monitor and optimize storage resources to meet performance and scalability requirements.
- Provide ongoing backup and recovery capabilities according to customer schedules and requirements.
- Ensure data integrity and develop recovery procedures to minimize downtime and data loss.
- Oversee day-to-day operation and management of customer's AWS public cloud environments.
- Implement best practices for cloud-native operations and administration to maintain system reliability and performance.
- Deploy and maintain practices tailored to the in-scope public cloud PaaS services.
- Collaborate with development teams to ensure seamless deployment and integration of performance/load test artifacts.
- Install, maintain, and support AWS cloud-native databases such as RDS, Non-RDS, Public Cloud SQL, and Snowflake.
- Manage database performance, data recovery, and integrity at the instance level.
- Provide database administration including installation, configuration, patching, upgrades, backups, restores, tuning, imports/exports of data, and continuous performance improvements.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- Proven experience in AWS cloud administration with a focus on PaaS components and database management.
- Strong understanding of AWS services including RDS, Non-RDS, Public Cloud SQL, and Snowflake.
- Experience in database administration tasks such as installation, configuration, backups, and performance tuning.
- Familiarity with backup and recovery strategies in cloud environments.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
- AWS certification (e.g., AWS Certified Database - Specialty) is a plus.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with cross-functional teams.
