Job Title: Paralegal - Contract Administrator

Salary: $65k - $85k

Department: Contract Administration

Reports To: Senior Corporate Counsel/Director of Contracts

FLSA Status: Exempt

Location: Sacramento, CA 

Work Model: In-Person 

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm (Could vary depending on business needs)

JOB SUMMARY: The Paralegal - Contract Administrator is responsible for preparing, examining, analyzing, and revising contracts and procurement documents (‘contracts’) based on approved templates and guidance as well as overseeing other contract services requests and administration of the electronic contract management system and workflows.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to:
 

  • Collaborate with legal and business teams to prepare, review, and edit contracts for accuracy and compliance with legal standards.
  • Conduct initial reviews of contracts to identify potential legal issues and escalate to attorneys/contract specialists when necessary.
  • Organize and maintain a centralized contract repository using Salesforce, ensuring easy access and retrieval of contract documents.
  • Utilize Docusign for electronic signature processes, overseeing the execution of contracts and tracking signatures through completion.
  • Assist with facilitating communication between internal stakeholders, legal team members, and external parties involved in contract negotiations and execution.
  • Using Salesforce reporting tools, generate and maintain reports on contract status, key milestones, and upcoming renewals.
  • Remain informed on legal regulations as it relates to contract law.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation within the contracts department, leveraging technology to enhance efficiency.
  • Interact with county members and vendors on various topics.
  • Provide general department support, including drafting, research, and policy support.
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Education/Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Paralegal Studies, Legal Studies, or a related field, and two (2) years of relevant legal/contracts experience or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience. Healthcare Industry experience preferred. Paralegal Certification a Plus.

  • Experience with contracts and/or legal document drafting, editing, and proofreading.
  • Knowledge of current and developing legal issues and trends in area of expertise (contracts).
  • Proficiency with technology, particularly in Microsoft Word, Excel, Salesforce, DocuSign, and other software, applications, and corporate databases.
  • Detailed-oriented and organized.
  • General legal and contract experience.
  • Knowledge of the principles and procedures of legal research.
  • Ability to analyze processes and data.
  • Demonstrates the ability to work independently, takes initiative, and finds ways to remain resourceful.
  • Excellent problem-solving and presentation skills.
  • Has a strong desire to succeed in the face of adversity and demonstrates the willingness to push through challenges associated with changes and new business development. 
  • Experience with project (program) accounting revenue recognition. 
  • Uses skills as a seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of industry practices and company policies and procedures; resolves a wide range of issues in imaginative and practical ways.
  • Must be willing to work virtually or in an office setting.
  • Must be willing to travel when necessary.

COMPUTER SKILLS: Demonstrate the ability to effectively use a computer and applicable computer software. Intermediate knowledge of Excel & Word, Adobe, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Experience with DocuSign and any other project management product software required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Demonstrate the ability to read, comprehend, and respond appropriately through written or verbal form; demonstrate tactfulness when communicating, including internal communication with staff members of all levels; ability to communicate with a variety of audiences effectively. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all measure units using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

REASONING: Demonstrate the ability to effectively apply common sense and follow through to daily tasks; demonstrate the ability to work with little or no supervision; demonstrate excellent analytical skills; demonstrate the ability to efficiently conduct research and ask appropriate probing questions to complete necessary tasks.

SENSORY DEMANDS - The incumbent must spend long hours in intense concentration. The incumbent must also spend long hours on the computer entering information, which requires attention to detail and high levels of accuracy.

MENTAL DEMANDS - There are a number of deadlines associated with this position, which may cause significant pressure. The incumbent must also deal with various people on various issues.

REGULAR WORK SCHEDULE - Varies depending on business needs; however, the company's normal business hours are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday-Friday.
