Partnership Finance Manager
Job Description
The Position
Arrowhead is seeking a Partnership Finance Manager to join its Finance & Accounting team at its Pasadena, CA headquarters. Reporting to the Corporate Controller & working closely with the VP of Finance, the Partnership Finance Manager will manage all aspects of partnership/collaboration accounting. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of revenue recognition, and be very detail-oriented, responsive, tech-savvy, and quick to think on their feet. 7+ years of growing responsibility in a finance or accounting role, preferably within the biotech or pharmaceutical industry, is required.
Responsibilities
- Understand partnership contracts and be responsible for researching and implementing appropriate accounting treatment
- Work closely with Alliance Management, Accounting, Project Management & Finance teams to track each partnership/collaboration agreement & be seen as the Finance SME
- Own all aspects of budgeting & long-range planning for all partnerships/collaborations
- Communicate timely and frequently with partners and establish monthly/quarterly budget/long-range plan/actual reviews & variance analysis as appropriate
- Participate in deal negotiations as needed & create valuation models for all existing & future deals
- Under the guidance of the Controller, own the various SEC financial disclosures (e.g. 10Q/K) related to partnerships/collaborations
- Validate/review detailed underlying data provided by internal/external parties; generate budgets associated with Research Plans
- Generate monthly/quarterly billings and manage collections; be an integral part of the monthly financial close
- Have a general to advanced understanding of various types of revenue recognition
- Manage quarterly reviews and annual financial audits
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- 7+ years of financial accounting experience
- Experience in internal controls over financial reporting, accounting processes, and Sarbanes-Oxley
- Strong organizational skills, with a focus on accuracy, detail orientation, and the ability to produce in tight timelines
- Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
- Possess the highest level of integrity
- Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment
- Excellent team player
- Self-motivated with an insatiable desire to learn & be challenged
- The ability for occasional travel between Arrowheadβs locations
Preferred:
- CPA Designation is preferred
- Pharmaceutical or biotech experience preferred
