Job Description

DonorsChoose makes it easy for anyone to help a teacher in need, moving us closer to a nation where students in every community have the tools and experiences they need for a great education.

Since 2000, more than 5 million people and partners have contributed $1 billion to support 2 million teacher requests for classroom resources and experiences. Projects range from art supplies to build the set for a school musical, to books and puzzles that affirm students’ identities, to bird seed for an at-home science project. We proudly serve all US public schools, public charter schools, and Head Start centers, and we combat systemic inequity by driving a majority of donations to schools that have been historically underfunded due to economic and racial inequity.

DonorsChoose has been recognized as a best place to work by GOOD Magazine and the Nonprofit Times, while Fast Company named DonorsChoose one of the 50 Most Innovative Companies in the World—the first time a charity has made this list. Our dedicated team works from across the United States bring classroom dreams to life.

Team Overview

Part of the Marketing Team, the Teacher & Donor Marketing Team exists to connect, empower, and build programs and events that inspire our community of 250,000 teachers and over 600,000 donors. We do this in part by 1) listening to and advocating for our user needs, 2) leveraging relationships across teams at the organization and our marketing expertise to consult on pitches to corporate and foundation givers, maximizing classroom funding to teachers of color and schools that have been systematically underfunded because of racial and socioeconomic inequities, 3) crafting and executing customized marketing strategies to raise teacher awareness and engagement with the funding opportunities our corporate and foundation partners bring to our site.

As a Partnership Marketing Coordinator, you would be key to helping our team market some of our most generous corporate and foundation partnerships to teachers, ensuring teachers across the country can get funding for their classroom needs.

Primary Responsibilities

In this role, you will focus on:

  1. Supporting our Teacher Equity & Success Manager with processes and admin tasks to ensure effective collaboration with colleagues who are winning major managed giving deals, as well as our digital marketing colleagues who help us build marketing campaigns to teachers for those deals.
  2. Managing one-off projects that drive forward team effectiveness and capacity, such as analysis projects across our partnership marketing work to identify trends and implementing process improvement overhauls to increase team efficiency.
  3. Conducting research projects to support us in giving clear recommendations for how to construct marketing campaigns for our managed giving partners, like exploring different teacher-facing resources within each campaign, managing teacher surveys, and talking to teachers at the close of campaigns to learn more about their on-the-ground experiences.

And you will work on projects and daily tasks such as:

  • Providing weekly updates to cross-team stakeholders on progress across partnerships we’re marketing to teachers
  • Creating marketing plans that organize inputs from disparate stakeholders into a clear launching pad for what we need to accomplish to meet a partner’s goals
  • Navigating our team tech stack to manage tasks within projects, identify relevant information, and communicate with collaborators (Google Suite, ClickUp, Slack, Salesforce, Looker, Trello).
  • Preparing supporting documentation ahead of partnership pitches to aid our Teacher Equity & Success Manager in providing marketing consultation on new deals.
  • Scheduling marketing kick-offs, pitch huddles, check-ins and other key meetings for stakeholders to collaborate on the partnerships we’re marketing to teachers.
  • Spot areas for increased efficiency across our partnership marketing processes, often providing suggestions on where we can improve our work
  • Where possible, templatize and streamline commonly-used resources to ease collaboration across teams on our marketing.
  • Conduct one-off research projects to gather insights on teacher engagement in order to improve our overall marketing strategy.
  • Connect with DonorsChoose teachers through surveys and interviews to understand how they are experiencing our partnerships on the ground.
Qualifications

This role might be a good fit for you if:

  • You have a people-focused mindset and are motivated by making sure people have the resources and information they need to succeed.
  • You love a good to-do list, and are naturally an organized thinker and planner.
  • You have a good sense of how long tasks realistically take to complete, and are able to self-pace your work accordingly.
  • You’re comfortable participating in a brainstorm, and are energized by spaces where collaborators share ideas freely before landing on the best way forward.
  • You’re an empathetic listener and approach the task of relaying someone else’s experience to others with thoughtfulness and care.
  • You’re passionate about supporting public school teachers and are excited to work at an mission- driven organization where we strive to support teachers and students of color.
  • You understand the power of communication on teams with multiple workflows and collaborators, and you’re down to take the extra step to plan your written and spoken thoughts so that they are accessible and actionable to others.
  • It grinds your gears to waste time and energy working inefficiently, so you have a knack for spotting where processes can be made more efficient.
  • You embrace the discomfort that can come with working on a fast-moving team that’s motivated by hopes of what can be true for teachers and students in a world where they have the resources they need to succeed.
Hybrid Workplace and Other Details

In this role, you’ll have the option to work a flexible hybrid schedule in our NYC office, or to work fully remotely from CA, FL, GA, IL, IN, MD, MI, NJ, NY, OR, TX, or WI.

Candidates who are not in the NYC area should expect to travel to our NYC office on as-needed basis, about 4-6 times per year. All work-related travel expenses will be covered by the organization and proper safety precautions will be taken to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

DonorsChoose is a fully vaccinated workplace and all new employees, regardless of their work location, will be asked to share proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 within two weeks of their hire date or request an exemption from this policy due to a disability or sincerely held religious belief or practice.

  • Hours: Between 20-25 hours per week with the ability to flex up to 29 hours per week depending on seasonal workload
  • Days: Daily schedule is flexible between the hours of 9 am - 7 pm ET.
  • Compensation: Starting at $17 per hour, commensurate with experience.
