Mission/Job Scope:
Responsible for implementing patching standards and processes to maintain system security and health across a large enterprise environment consisting of multiple architectures (i.e., Windows, Linux, Cloud, Cisco). Oversee, track, test and schedule system patching across the enterprise. Interface with the Infrastructure, Security, Desktop, and ITSM teams to coordinate system and application patch deployments. Attend high severity patch maintenance windows and assist in documenting completion of the change. Maintain WSUS and server patching tools to ensure appropriate patches are being deployed timely and promptly rectify any issues. Oversee monthly scheduled maintenance tasks.
Outcomes:
Maintain a service level of at least 99.9% for production systems through patch management standards.
Apply patches timely within established patching standards.
Develop automation scripts to streamline manual patch operations and improve mean time to deliver and first-time right metrics.
Support company and IT initiatives as defined by the IT Strategic Plan.
Continue to develop relevant job skills by participating in user groups and by identifying and attending relevant training sessions.
Essential Competencies:
Qualifications:
5+ years working with Microsoft server technologies.
3+ years working with Linux server technologies.
5+ years networking knowledge working with managed switches, firewalls, and routers. Cisco experience preferred.
5+ years of PC operating system experience.
3+ years working with Azure cloud environments.
3+ years working with Microsoft WSUS.
Familiarity with Ivanti Endpoint Management (LANDesk) and Server Patching (Shavlik) tools a plus.
Must be able to respond to and address after-hours issues and alerts when they arise.
Ability to communicate technical issues and translate into non-technical business reviews.
