Job Summary:
The Payment Operations Business Lead Analyst will support the Business Solutions Team (BST) in the Operations and Process Excellence group. BST is a comprised of individuals who previously worked in corporate bank operations and have now transitioned into a business analysis role. BST collaborates E2E in MUFG by working with front offices, middle office, and back office to drive new product implementations, system development, and straight through processing. BST is a group of highly qualified business analysts who integrate product, systems, and project management expertise to execute the bank's operations strategic plans. Business Solutions provides support within the Americas region, including U.S., Canada, and Latin America.
Major Responsibilities:
The Payment Operations Business Analyst will be responsible for managing projects related to international high value remittance, specifically SWIFT/FedWire/CHIP payment channels. In this role you will perform requirements gathering analysis, UAT execution, and overall project management as a user PMO. You will be expected to play a key role connecting actual end users with technology teams to ensure requirements are captured clearly, tested accurately, and deliverables are provided in a timely manner and of high quality.
It is expected that the person in this role will have worked in a capacity that is in line with international payment processing, and will have familiarity with actual operation workflows, procedures, and SWIFT related message formats. The ideal candidate will also become the subject matter expert for the payment applications the high value payments team owns and supports providing expertise on projects and managing production issues for those applications from identification to resolution.

Additional Responsibilities:
- Consider and provide viable business operations and system enhancement solutions by means of expertizing the knowledge and experience of remittance business operations, particularly of high value payments.
- Ability to identify, track, manage and resolve production issues for the payment applications owned by the high value payments team, communicating updates and resolution to leadership.
- Provide key project management functions from both operations and system standpoints, by leading requirements gathering as well as by coordinating user test planning and training with the relevant business departments.
- Create work breakdown structure (WBS) and lead the project team members to succeed completing the tasks along with the WBS.
- Collaborate with other project leaders to identify and resolve projects interdependent issues and risks.
- Work closely with business stakeholders to plan and manage to achieve the goal view of project tasks including user training documents and operation procedures.
- Provide support to the Unit Manager to ensure all related initiatives are maintained on schedule and completed as scheduled.
- Participate in the recruitment, hiring, onboarding and training of new project team members.
- Communication with global stakeholders including partners in our Tokyo Home Office.
- Identify and solve business production issues of money transfer, static table maintenance and configuration, collaborating with multiple departments with all areas of the bank across the region(U.S. West Coast, East Coast, Canada and Latin America).
Qualifications:
- Must have at least 4-6 years of banking business operations experience related to payments processing for a major financial institution.
- Must have strong financial industry knowledge and experience of High Value Payments (HVP) including international SWIFT wires and domestic Fedwire/CHIPS settlements.
- Must have knowledge and experience of Project Management and Business Analyst Concepts (e.g. SDLC, Waterfall, etc.).
- Microsoft Office Suite proficiency (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Project, and Outlook).
- Strong verbal and written communications skills are required (Business requirements elicitation and instant documentation during meetings).
- Excellent organization and time management skills with attention to detail.
- Self-starter with the ability to synthesize ambiguous information and develop creative solutions.
- Must possess individual initiative, self-discipline and integrity, and leadership qualities.
- Experience leading or working on team related projects within their related majors or externally via extracurricular activities.
- Ability to work efficiently and effectively on team-oriented projects or independently with minimum supervision.
- Hands-on experience of Global Pay Plus (GPP) or any major payment applications is a plus.
- Proficiency in SQL, Business Objects, or database inquiry tools a plus.
- College majors including Business, Economics, Accounting, Finance, or other related major.
- Japanese Proficiency is plus.
