Job Description

The primary role of a Payment Specialist I is to process, post and deposit payments and returned items received through various payment channels on residential mortgage loan accounts. Specific daily tasks include: reviewing payments, posting exception payments, processing payoffs, processing returned payments, monitoring and managing short payments, generating borrower correspondence, completing reports, completing cash related tasks, and opening tasks for other departments as necessary. In addition, the Specialist works with other departments to ensure that "exception" payments are posted correctly on loans in default, bankruptcy and/or foreclosure. All duties must be performed in accordance with all company and investor guidelines and applicable federal, state and local regulations, including CFPB Servicing Guidelines and Regulation AB

How You'll Spend Your Time

  • Reviewing payments and positing exception payments.
  • Processing payoffs and returned payments while also monitoring and managing short payments.
  • Generating borrower correspondence.
  • Reporting and cash related tasks.


Education & Experience Requirements

This level of knowledge is normally acquired through completion of high school and 2-3 years' general office experience with at least 1 year general accounting experience or equivalent work related experience
