PAYMENTS ENGINEERING & ARCHITECTURE - ORGANZIATIONAL OVERIVEW
Payments Engineering & Architecture (E&A) is a central function reporting to Payments' Chief Technology Officer (CTO). The team drives the technology strategy across Payments Technology organization of 7,000+ technologists and 750+ applications. We have responsibility for driving technology strategy, setting standards and governance, leading transformation initiatives, driving cloud adoption, building products, and engineering solutions to support of all Payments Technology. As the pace of innovation in the Payments industry continues to rapidly accelerate, we are increasingly focused on driving technology transformation to support innovation and Payments' growth objectives.
ROLE SUMMARY
Payments E&A is seeking a Principal Cloud Solutions Architect to join the newly formed Cloud Success function. You will be responsible for driving Payments Technology's adoption of, and migration to, the public cloud. We are looking for experienced architects with extensive experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS), who take tremendous pride in driving technology transformation, and have a passion for driving business results and a curiosity for solving complex technical challenges.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIERS
Primary responsibilities include:

  • Senior member of Cloud Success team. In this capacity, you will develop and execute strategies to execute Payments' public cloud adoption strategy.
  • Driving Business Results. You will partner with key stakeholders across Payments Technology, including application and product teams, to share in the responsibility of successfully migrating Payments' strategic applications to the public cloud.

Additional responsibilities include:
  • Defining highly scalable, available and maintainable patterns for moving systems to the cloud
  • Leading the planning and design phases of an applications cloud migration journey, including the development of application-level AWS migration artifacts (e.g., architecture designs, cost analysis, product recommendations, migration strategy and roadmap, engineering tasks, resourcing needs)
  • Partnering with application teams, production management, and SRE teams to develop production support plans and provide training for post-migration support
  • Collaboration with Cloud Success teams across the firm to share best practices for cloud adoption and to influence and prioritize cloud engineering roadmaps
  • Identifying opportunities to increase public cloud knowledge and expertise across Payments E&A and Payments Technology

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE
Candidates must have the following experiences:
  • BS/BA degree or equivalent professional or military experience
  • 10+ years in technology engineering or architecture, with 5+ years applied experience in building AWS public cloud solutions at scale
  • Broad expertise in cloud technical architecture, with strong knowledge of at least one architecture disciplines (e.g., infrastructure, application, data, security)
  • Experience delivering technology transformation in highly regulated environments (e.g., financial services, government, healthcare, etc.)
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with ability to present complex issues with simplicity to internal and external business partners

QUALIFICATIONS
Additionally, a candidate should demonstrate competency in some of the skills below:
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal skills, with an ability to communicate business and technical concepts to both expert and novice audiences
  • Experience working with cross-functional matrixed teams to drive business outcomes
  • Experience managing and delivering complex projects in large organizations; project management experience preferred
  • AWS Solutions Architect - Associate or equivalent certification
  • Self-starter with the ability to solve problems creatively and deliver results while working in a dynamic, collaborative, and challenging environment
  • Preferred experience in Payments
  • Preferred experience at large financial institution or financial technology company
